| 1 | Fast Heart Rate | Extremely low BP,light headed,feeling like I was going to die!!!! | I was put on Atenolol to help with fast heart rate because of A Fib. This drug along with metoprolol is horrible. My head is always foggy,feeling like I'm going to faint. Trying to find another cardiologist. I am constantly laying down cause it feels like I'm going to pass out from my BP being to low. I was having afib attacks and finally ended up in the hospital for one. I was prescribed this a few days later to help keep my in rythem. I do believe I experienced a couple blood pressure drops while I was taking it then. I never fainted, just felt suddenly lightheaded. I had terrible panic attacks during that time of my life and do not think it helped at the time. I was taken off atenolol after having my thyroid removed, I did not wean off. I stopped my dose and had no issues at all. Here I am 7 years later and my BP runs a little high (I am overweight and I believe this is the primary cause, along with stress) I also have heart palpitations/racing heart when stressed so I was perscribed Atenalol again. This time I feel a major difference. I feel BETTER. I feel calmer, happier, my heart doesn't beat out my chest for no reason, I haven't had my BP taken since I started but I am sure as before it has lowered it. I have mild shortness of breath at night since starting this again. I take it in the morning. No other problematic symptoms at all. This med seems very hit or miss. But I want people to know it may be worth trying. I felt relief within a few hours of taking it the first time.
