Looking at other reviews, the ppl taking this and complaining are nitwits. The side effects certainly outweigh potentially serious bacterial infections like tooth infections that easily allow bacteria entrance to the brain, MRSA, and other serious issues. This antibiotic is not the first one doctors select; it is used in conjunction with serious or specific infections that don't usually respond to other antibiotics. Stop whining about the side effects and no one telling you. Read the brochure every Rx comes with. Do your own research. It's your job, not your doctor's. Follow the very, very, very basic recommendations on the directions and warnings that come with the meds and you will be FINE. Half the ppl posting comments on here fail to realize their "side effects" are far more likely coming from the infection they had the med prescribed for, rather than the actual medication. The other half sound like they belong in the nut house with their issues. Follow directions and let the medicine do its job. Otherwise, stay sick and don't take the drug. I'll be honest, I was absolutely TERRIFIED to take this drug after reading the horrific reviews on this site and many others. Took 4 pills a day 300mg for 1 week with absolutely no issues. Worst I experienced was a foul taste in my mouth and mild heartburn when I forgot to eat my yogurt and drink sufficient water for that day. Ate before each pill and took at least 2 small cups of yogurt each day and before dosage. Infection cleared up pretty well and has faded from the rich purple color it was from before taking the medicine. Don't be fooled by the negative reviews on this drug, just make sure to drink with a FULL glass of water and have something in your stomach before taking the pill. Also, be sure to wait at least 30 min to an hour before lying down after taking the pill to avoid heartburn. Cost over $2,000 to get medicine to treat C-diff because I had to treat it twice. It was Hell. | When I asked pharmacist about side effects, he said maybe some diarrhea. I thought no big deal. VERY BIG DEAL. Research afterward discovered this antibiotic is known for causing C-diff which is highly contagious by the way. I could have been prescribed any other antibiotic that I had taken before. Ask why you are being prescribed this drug and take something else if possible. It is not worth the risk as others will do what it does without the risk. If you have to take it, be sure to take probiotics with it and for a while afterward just to give your body a chance to recover. You should probably do that with any antibiotic. Just take them opposite time you take medicine because they cancel each other out. Learned a lot after my experience. Wish doctors would do more than just prescribe drugs. I could have been prepared or avoided this altogether if I would have had some communication, but it wasnt my doctor, it was a dentist that prescribed it and did not ask any questions about what I had tolerated in the past. They should consult with your doctor first or ask you questions if they have never treated you before.
