ERYTHROMYCIN STEARATE  (ERYTHROMYCIN STEARATE):  Erythromycin is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It may also be used to prevent certain bacterial infections. Erythromycin is known as a macrolide antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats or prevents only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu).  1  abcess on face after first dose, chronic diarhea and then really severe heartburn and pain in stomache. I cannot take penicillin as I am allergic to it. Was not told about the side effects of this tablet. Wish I could take something else F 39 7 days
