I had five clots in right leg, clot in iliac vein and one in my inferior cena cava. I was in the ICU for 3 days in March 2020. The doctor at the hospital put me on Xarelto. I seemed ok for the first month then my symptoms just got worse until I could no longer eat without vomiting and I could only get 2 to 4 hours of sleep a night. My PCP said Xarelto could not cause these symptoms because his other patients don't experience them. So I got a bunch of blood tests CT scan and all the tests showed I was normal. I have since switched doctors and I am now off xarelto and I finally stopped vomiting and had my first good night's sleep for the first time in 7 months. I am an artist; I do oil paintings and I create beaded jewelry but after 3 months on Xarelto I had no interest in my art and I was losing money plus I couldn't get out of bed, I just felt sick. This drug is the worst drug ever. I feel so sorry for people that have to stay on it for life especially the price of the drug is insane. | F | 44 | 7 months 20 mg 1X day | 10/5/2020 | 4 | Pulmonary Embolism | I too complained about Dizziness, stomach pains, anxiety, muscular pains, joint pains, numbness, tiredness, weak legs, random chest pains, leg cramps, shortness of breath etc etc. I thought it was the drug...This next bit is IMPORTANT guys... so I got off the drug after 3 months convinced these symptoms were from the blood thinner rat poison. And was xarelto free for 3 months. Let me tell you, those symptoms DID NOT go away. I can assure you that the majority of them are post PE symptoms. They will slowly get better and you'll still experience them on and off for quite a while. For me, they still linger and some months are worse and/or better than others. Clot recovery takes time, your body is trying to rebuild a circulatory system that was cut off and damaged. Xarelto, the only symptoms outta most reported that I can confidently say is from the drug is the burning sensation in arms or legs, and the overall tired feeling- those are definitely symptoms that disappeared during my 3 month drug free period. I went back on the drug because I was afraid of clotting again as I was trying to rebuild my stamina and work on healing. Until I regain that, I'll stick to this frug because it's keeping me alive and there's still hope for a normal life in near future. You'll spend a lot of time exhausted and it really does feel like your life was completely taken from you. But guys, hang in there, | It works, clot was gone in a month. Too damn expensive in USA. CT scan found several clots in my Right lung . D-dimer 433 . They basically talked me in to taking Med or I might have another Blood clot . I feel like I probably had it and I'm healing from the PE and now I'm on Xarelto and it's making it worse . Leg cramps since I started , tired no energy , headaches and I'm noticing a little more pain in my left chest . I can't for my follow up appointment and hope to be off this poison . I've gained so much weight, despite eating very little and none of my clothes fit any more. I've gone up 2 to 3 dress sizes. I suffer regular back, hip, knee and tooth pain. My legs are so weak that I can't even get up from the sofa or toilet alone sometimes. I have absolutely no energy. My libido is non existent. I'm so tired of the bathroom or kitchen looking like a murder scene every time I cut myself shaving my legs or chop vegetables! The clot has almost disappeared from my lung but has left extensive scarring. I know that the drug prevents further embolisms occurring...but seriously, this is not living...the old me has disappeared I feel like I'm waiting to die. I know it can be lethal to just stop taking xarelto...but I'm seriously considering stopping this horrendous drug and take the risk. That's how bad it makes me feel. | I've been told there isn't a substitute for this drug.
