2  Weight loss Severe gingival irritation was the main reason I stopped. Constipation was annoying, but not a deal-breaker. I noticed reduced efficacy of other medications, specifically my Lexapro. Reduced my appetite somewhat, but my motivation to exercise was reduced as well, so it was a wash. I was impressed by how painless the injections were. Disappointed that it didn't work for me.  1  Type 2 Diabetes Dizzy, Nausea, stomach cramps and headaches Couldn't keep food down, felt weak flu symptoms. Felt okay until after 3 months of taking it. After 7 months I lost the weight and stopped taking the drug, then the symptoms started up again. Went to the doctor because I couldn't keep any food down, I was diagnosed with stage 3 Stomach cancer! No one in family has ever had cancer, this med is POISON! F 57 7 months

2  Borderline Type2 & Weight Loss Nausea, bloating, diarrhea, cramping, fatigue My upper and lower GI side effects started a few hours after my first dose and have only intensified. I am nauseated all the time, and my stomach is tender and bloated. I feel like I need to have a massive burp, but the little ones I can produce don't give any relief. I have now learned that this med slows emptying of the stomach, so the symptoms make sense. The thought of food makes me want to throw up; if you can't eat, then of course you're going to lose weight... this just isn't the way I want to do it, LOL. I will not be continuing with Victoza, and pray that it won't take long for these symptoms to fade away. F 45 7 days

3  Type 2 diabetes Lots of abdominal pain, thought it was my gall bladder and after lots of tests found out it is not. Now have started the very bad sour tasting belching, diarrhea, that will be followed by severe throwing up. Notice if I am stressed it gets worse. I can't stand the burping and the gas. Was going to have more tests ran until after reading all the comments on here. Plus I have no energy at all. I took it for awhile in the past and never had this kind of problem. But now it is getting intolerable. I was loving it until I have been getting so sick. I thought I kept catching the stomach bug going around. I am going to lay off a few days and see what happens. I have noticed that if I eat raw veggies, fruits and a small piece of chicken, and very small helpings the symptoms go away. But it also makes my blood sugar drop as well. I have lost nearly 60 pounds on this and love that. But hate how I feel. I long to be back to me. Going to talk to my doctor about this. F 59 1 years

1  Type 2 diabetic I did well until four weeks ago and developed a very sore throat and bronchitis. I had taken it for two months with no problems . I took antibiotics and it helped a little and then things got worse. I looked up side effects and says sore throat,, upper respiratory infection , and bronchitis. My doc didn't think that the Victoza was the cause.. I insisted on going off the Victoa and the symptoms disappeared in three days. I may try it again but not until feeling well again F 52 3 months

3  type 2 diabetic The first six weeks I had pain in my stomach. Mainly a pressure feeling in my stomach and lots of burping. That has now all stopped, and then I increased to 1.8, but was so dizzy, and sore throat. I dropped back to 1.2 and that solved the problem. The weight loss has been slow, but better then not taking it. I will give this more time. F 52 3 months

3  Type 2 Diabetes Initially started on o.6 mg, then after 2 weeks went to 1.2 mg. Also started on Metformin, 2000 mg a day. I was confined to home with diarrhea 3-4 times per day; however, after consulting with my doctor, it was the high dose of Metformin, so went down to 1000 mg and the diarrhea cleared up. I do however, have terrible dry mouth at night; I think using the CPAP machine does not help. I am going to go back down to 0.6 mg and see how I do on that. The dry mouth is so bad my tongue is literally stuck to the top of my mouth, and my lips stuck to my gums. It's awful. However, on a positive note, I've lost 25 pounds. F 55 4 months

4  tupe 2 diabetes and weight loss I did fine at .6 mg and really had very little nausea and dropped 3 IBs the first week. Then it came time to increase to 1.2 mg a day. I burped constantly and had this pressure in my stomach most of the time. I switched and started taking it at night and that improved greatly. I however have developed insomnia with it. I have lost 12 IBS in a month, but don't sleep well. I may try taking it in the morning again. My BS are much improved. F 52 1 months

5  weight management/prediabetes minor nausea 4 hours after shot for the first several weeks. however, this stopped over time. this has worked very well for me; was 50 lb overweight at 5'1" and could no longer reduce by regular methods. combined with strict dietary changes (low carb, no fruit/ added sugar/starches) and exercise, I lost 45 lb in less than 5 months. regained energy, prob due to weight loss and mild hormone therapy. No nausea, never had vomiting or diarrhea. I will be transitioning off victoza (ramping down dosage now) and dr. expects I will be fine, perhaps may need metformin in future, but will see how it goes. will keep dietary changes and exercise.  1  type 2 diabetes At 0.6 I did not experience any noticeable problems. Lost a few pound. Was increased to 1.8 and taken off Lantus. Appetite decreased. Developed pain in rib cage. Low blood sugar levels, fatigue, dizziness. Decreased to 1.2. Rib cage pain is worse as time goes on, Shortness of breath when trying to sleep, loss of sleep, Dry mouth in the early morning hours while trying to sleep. Blood sugar has come back up to 140-160. Rash has developed, Thought it may be shingles but not the case, pain going around sides toward back, still very tired, neck pain, shoulder pain is starting to develop, and have a strong burning pain across my abdomen and on both sides of it. Feels like my insides are cooking. I had just gone into see my doctor on Tuesday. I am going back today and demanding they take me off of this medication before these symptoms get any worse. I would only use this as a last resort . It will help you lose some weight, but that isn't a good reason to use it. Rapid weight loss can also be a precursor to cancer, so maybe it's not something to feel that great about. All I know is, my body is telling me not to use it anymore and that's good enough for me. Good luck. If I find out I have pancreatitis or worse I will let you know. M 56 2 months

4  type 2 Initially nausea but I found if I gave the injection and then ate breakfast within 10 minutes, it was much better. Since then just random bouts of nausea when I go too long without eating. At the end of my second week, I started getting extremely bad diarrhea . It would happen shortly after eating. And usually 2-3 times after a meal. That equals 10 or so bouts a day. So far I'm very happy. It's not an easy drug to get started on. But I stuck with it through the first week and it has been very tolerable the second week. My blood sugars have dropped significantly. Back in to the 90-110 range 2 hours after eating. I am on 2,000 mg of metformin and 5mg of glipizide twice a day. But I suspect that as I continue to lose weight and eat better, those will be able to be eliminated. So far I've lot 10 lbs in two weeks. My appetite is very mild, bordering on not interested in eating. Without even trying, I am eating 1/4 of the amount of food I usually eat in a day. And I'm feel full all day long!!!! It took a week to get my energy back. I realized right away that if I'm eating a small amount of food it is more important to eat nutrient-dense food and my energy has rebounded. My only hurdle now is to figure out how to stop diarrhea. I am going to start with greek yogurt in the mornings and some probiotics as people have suggested here. It is tough to get started but I believe I'm past the worst of the bad symptoms and it's been very tolerable this last week. M 46 2 weeks
