4  herniated lumbar disc pain;ddd I experienced no negative side effects of this drug. I have to take 2 tablets to get relief from my low back pain, facet joint syndrome, disco genic pain and thoracic pain, however I also remain in physical therapy. I received a lot of different treatments in PT to resolve tight muscles in my hips, low back and spine and strengthening my core. I would take nucyenta only as a last resort for low back pain not responding to NSAID's and ice. Nucyenta does work about as well as a strong Norco, but without the brain fog (I experienced) and feelings of dependency and depression (experienced by me). It is also more gentle on the G.I. system than other pain meds (as mentioned by my Dr.). I believe there is an ssri component to this drug which changes how your brain perceives pain. Tramadol is its cousin and never worked for me, but I really found relief with nucyenta- especially if I could take a day or two off of it. I also found that if I even drank half a beer at dinner even an hour or more after taking nucyenta- it very much potentates the drug. So that was a no-no for me. After several months I asked my Dr for a 75 mg dose and he declined- I think it is because of the monitoring by the DEA and risks Dr.'s may have when treating individuals with chronic pain (like me) who are not going to a pain clinic and still trying to remain active. I do have to take at least 1-2 to get relief and then, even if I am still uncomfortable I do not take more for fear that I will be perceived as a "drug seeker". Unfortunately I recently developed gastritis from the NSAID's and medrol - am awaiting a scope with a gastroenterologist and now cannot take any of those and have lost 20lbs on an already slender frame. Now rake Zofran for nausea. It's a challenge. F 50 4 months

1  hip replacement and back surgery Very little help with pain. Causing problems with my breathing. fogginess depression intensified. My milligrams have been increased ,my symptoms of increased. I don't know why, but my urine tests have shown that the nucynta is not even in my system how is that possible??? It is awful, sleep problems ,breathing problems ,not keeping my pain levels down the oxycodones or Roxicodone worked 70% better. I know there's a drug problem out there but I'm not an abuser it's not fair , I need medicine to work not only for the chronic pain levels but for my mental stability. F 54 0 months

1  DDD, nerve damage and facets I felt like I needed to be in an insane asylum. I took last night and not taking anymore cause of side effects. Which is worse? The immense pain or almost at point of suicide at 4am for several days!!!!! I have been on various drugs but keep having adverse responses. I am to being a series of procedures and it is disheartening at a young age to even be experiencing this health issues and more so, the side effects of the medicines. This one caused me insomnia (averaging about 3 hours of sleep daily), panic attacks, sweating terribly, suicidal thoughts and crying around the clock. One word for this drug: DONE. F 30 7 days

2  Fibromyalgia Side effects include apathy, fatigue, weakness, depression and as time progressed, less effective for pain management. ER Nucynta had too many side effects for me to continue to take it. I wasn't able to function and I was already not doing well with Fibro. I was on Tramadol for 4 yrs previous, but that also stopped working. F 47 3 months

1  Rare Virus: ACEBV HHV6 I've been taking the instant release Nucynta 100 mg for a few years and it seems to be the only thing that helps ease the pain I endure from the virus I have. The pain is chronic, constant, stabbing pain. It was prescribed by a neurologist after having an EMG. My insurance sent me a letter claiming they weren't going to pay for it any longer so my dr switched me to the ER. It was horrible. Each day taking the medication my symptoms got worse. Dizzy, loopy, foggy headed (felt like my head was full of cotton), breathing difficulties due to the tension it caused in my back, pain got worse, insomnia, felt like my thyroid became overactive due to the burning sensation in my throat and along my neck, and it felt like I had neuro and spinal edema. I had taken the extended release nucynta a few years ago for a short time. It didn't have the side effects I mentioned. The virus I have comes with increased reactions to food, medicine, etc. I believe after the FDA reformulated the medicine,so addicts can't break the RX down, it has become toxic to some people who have sensitivities to things. (Sort of like spraying pesticides on crops to help them grow). Do we really know how safe they are to take with layer upon layer of additives to keep abusers from being able to crush, snort, inject, etc the pills? Had my physician not changed my RX, I would have sought hospital care due to the side effects. This is day 2 of being off of it. I'm taking the IR again. My insurance agreed to pay for a certain # a day. So far, I'm still feeling neurological systems...foggy headed and loopy. My eyes feel weird and I still suffer with insomnia. My personal opinion, I'm afraid the ER is going to end up doing more harm than good. It's unfair to those who really need them because I believe Nucynta is one of the best RXs for the type of pain I have. I've never wanted to abuse them and have taken myself off on my own during periods of feeling better. I used to work as a pharmacy technician and can honestly say I don't recommend the ER to anyone, at least until more studies are done to test what materials that have been used to alter its original formulation so patients are better informed of its side effects.  3  Thoracic, Lumbar, SI pain At a level that helped pain (~75mg-100mg), this med made me EXTREMELY light headed/loopy compared to Vicodin or Percocet (similar to taking Benadryl or Robitussin). Had similar reaction to NSAID Indomethacin - progressively severe headaches and increased stomach upset/pain. The headaches were so severe - thought I had a status migraine at one point. NOTHING helped except stopping the Nucynta. First week on the med was fine, but then each week I'd get headaches more and more frequently, to the point where they were daily and then they started turning into migraines...daily migraines (throbbing pain, eye pain, side of head pain, light sensitivity). Taking more Nucynta made the headaches worse, pain only resolved after the Nucynta was out of my system (~6-8 hours). Also, I noticed a few times while on it that my pupils were VERY large. Granted head pain was severe at the time, but usually opioids like Nucynta make the pupils CONSTRICT, not expand. Each time it happened, it felt like when Got very good relief for SI/back pain, but the severe headaches quickly outweighed the benefit for my back. Taking this med for break through pain, on top of a long acting medication. Have taken vicodin/percocet for several years before they lost effectiveness and switched to Nucynta. Have also tried tramadol - the pain relief from Nucynta was SIGNIFICANTLY more than tramadol. Just wish it didn't cause such severe headaches. I did manage to confirm these are not 'rebound headaches'. Headaches and stomach pain usually start within 45-60min of taking the med. F 33 2 months

1  Lumbar Pain Severe depression, suicidal ideation, increase in migraines The worst drug I've ever been prescribed. I looked at the chemical structure and realized it was similar to Chantix which I'd responded poorly too. Bad days I'm bed bound but that beats being depressed. F 41 3 months

5  Back pain and siatica Some initial nausea then sudden weight gain of 35lbs in 6wks!!! And i cant lose it!! Im post gastric bypass,15 years i kept off all 200 lbs then boom!! I know there are others. How to contact them? Excellent medication 24/7 relief pist percocet for 15 years. That worked great but the big addiction scare came and the hell with patients who depended on it for a near normal life!!. Now my insurance co. Wont pay for nucynta 2017 and i changed to the butrans patch which I am vèry pleased with except the duration of relief is 5 days NOT 7 and it appears most people need a breakthrough med to get coverage the last two days. Thanks for letting me voice my experience! F 63 1 years

5  Back pain sciatica Extremely fast weight gain. 30 lbs in two months i am post gastric bypass and have maintained my weight loss within 5lbs for 16 years!!! So distressed by this and I cannot seem to lose it.😣 but for my pain relief it has been miracle. There are others online who have experienced the SAME THING!!! Can you please help????? Would love to hear back from someone!!! I was previously on percocet and it worked great! Of course over the years I developed a tolerance so needed an increased dose.Nucynta gives me better round the clock relief but not effective much on the sciatica as it hits hard and fast. Need some relief for that sudden sharp type of pain. Percocet worked great but 99% of pain mgt doctors are.terrified to prescribe it. Its so sad that a medication that gave me and so many others a more productive and pain free life was so.demolished as an incredible pain relief medication by the abuse of a.drug drug cartel and social media. I kept hoping they all could stay above that by showing more concern for so many of us.that suffer from chronic pain. So wjat are the pharmaceutical companies working on now to help us not go out of our minds because that is startimg to look like a pretty nice road trip. F 62 1 years

5  Car accident nv-neck back hip pain Nausea heart palpitations vision loss inability to read lack of sleep hot flashes itching dehydration/dry mouth Car accident caused 2 vertebrae in neck to fuse together causing immense pain Dr gave nucynta ir 50mg every 4 hours the first 3 weeks I couldn't do anything but they helped my pain a ton without them my pain is a 9 with them about a 3 now the side effects went away mostly after 3 weeks but they came back way worse when Dr gave me cymbalta to control my violent outbursts, they interact badly and have all the same side effects but after a month of taking both meds I only have hot flashes and trouble reading and slight vision loss but taking these meds makes me have extreme ED so even taking an ED med doesn't work at all but it's the only pain medication that works for me as my Dr has tried t3/tramadol/fentynol patches/dilaudid/ percacet, also after taking nucynta after 4 months I had to increase to 100mg every 4 hours but if I miss a dose or I take it 10 min late I start having severe withdrawal making my pain 10x worse M 24 9 months
