5  Seizure disorder Only side effects is a hand tremor on one hand after taking for one yearm vivid dreams and some short term memory issues. Take Vimpat for grand mal seizures. First seizure med I took made me extremely angry. Then tried Lyrica, gained 40 lbs and expericenced balance issues. Tried Dylantin and had extreme balance issues. Actually fell down cellar stairs and broke collar bone. Vimpat is the best. No balance issues, feel good. Some short term memory issues. Have only had one seizure on this med. I did have breakthrough seizures with the other meds. Experienced one seizure on Vimpat that is when they upped the evening dose to (2) 100 mg tablets. No seizures in over a year. M 66 2 years

1  Because of a seizure The side effects progressed over time. About a year ago is when I really noticed them and they have continued to worsen. They include auras, partial seizures which started from 2-3 a month to now every 2-3 days, sinus irritation and inflammation, headaches, intensified emotion ( fear, sadness, anger), eye pain, feverish, ear pressure and ringing and pain, jittery, shortness of breath, palpitations, vivid dreams, fatigued and over tired, short term memory loss, and mainly just not feeling grounded or like myself at all! I am currently weaning off of this poison and onto CBD oil. This wean off ain't no fun either... but I see the end in sight and have full faith in the CBD/THC/THCA and many other treatments I am partaking in as I wean off! Do not take it! And know that drugs can build up toxicity in the body over time, and sometimes what seems may work, may turn out not to and vice versa. I highly recommend "The Road Back" program by Jim Harper to help with wean offs, as wean offs can be easy, intense, or severe. F 33 2 years

1  Epilepsy Gave me seizures every day as well as hallucinations. I was continually tired & had no motivation whatsoever. It made me dizzy upon standing & prone to falling. I also had headaches. It was an awful & scary experience taking this medication. My neurologist changed my medication to Lamotrigine & it worked great. M 61 7 days

1  Epilepsy Literally everything on the leaflet. Vomiting, dizziness, falling over, walking into things, slurred speech, memory loss, extreme vivid nightmares, burning up, low sex drive, severe mood swings, depression and suicidal thoughts etc The side effects for me personally far outweigh the benefits having persisted with it for nearly a year the side effects only seem to get worse. That said not all drugs affect everyone the same way. F 26 10 months

4  Partial seizures Stunted emotions This is my second time taking and my second rating. I asked to be put back on Vimpat as my doctor was ready to send me to an EMU to be evaluated and mentioned possible surgery and I did not want that. Last time, in addition to stunted emotions, I also had personality changes. Although it helped with my seizures, I could not handle not being "me". This time, while I am still on Keppra, I added B6 in addition as recommended in a seizure forum. It worked. My emotions are stunted this second time but I am not flying off the handle or getting easily irritated. I am not thrilled with the emotion thing but at this point in my life, I'd rather deal with that than going into an EMU and the possibility of surgery. If it should no longer control my seizures down the road, then I will look into the EMU. F 47 1 years

1  started having small "seizures" Memory loss, moodiness, anxious, emotional, rapid weight gain Started having small "seizures" when I started perimenopause. I never had them before this. I was prescribed lamictal which helped a little. Vimpat was added which helped but I started having terrible side effects. Simple things like having eaten at a restaurant in the past I couldn't remember. Things told to me 2 days before I couldn't remember. Im always in a bad mood and cry over nothing. Gained almost 30 lbs since I started taking it. At first I thought I would deal with the side effects since it helped, but now its not only affecting but my family. If someone had told me this before, I would never have started it. F 41 6 months

1  grand mal seizures --Unable to walk due to extreme dizziness (for 2 hours after taking the drug, I would be unable to walk -- I would need to crawl on all 4 fours to my destination. I fell frequently because was also very off balance the remainder of the day -- my body was covered with black and blue marks --Unable to talk; slurred words (as when one gets very drunk) and unable to formulate sentences --Not effective; was experiencing 1 - 3 grand mal seizures each week --Memory became an extreme problem -- if I watched a movie in the morning I would have totally forgotten anything about it (or even having seen it) by the afternoon --Extreme depression; I'm sure part of it was simply due to my frequent seizures and the extreme side effects l also relayed my problems to Barrows, the epilepsy foundation and the drug manufacturer but there was no concern from any of these parties.  2  Partial Seziures Initially, Vimpat seemed to be a godsend. The doctor had added it when my Keppra was not completely controlling my seizures. About two weeks ago, I fell. Not sure what happened. Three says ago, almost went down again. Vision difficulty for the past couple of weeks. Severe headaches. Beginning to have difficulty reading (something that was happening just before I was diagnosed with Epilepsy--it improved 100% with Keppra but now it is back again) and now, I have started hallucinating...first auditory and now visually. My once laid back personality has become more intense, getting angry and irritable over nothing. My emotions are otherwise flat. Things I should feel happiness, sadness, joy, etc...do not have reaction....irritability and anger are only reactions I have. This is not me. I am disappointed this is happening, especially after such a good start on Vimpat. F 45 10 weeks
