1  Post nasal drip at night Extremely tired and lethargic the following day. Achy ness as well. It did alleviate most of the post nasal drip and I slept fine, but the tiredness and achy ness the next day isnít a fair trade off. M 66 3 days

1  Seasonal Allergies Extreme fatigue and depression. It took about 24 hours after the first pill, but suddenly I felt extremely tired and I started to cry and couldn't stop. This isn't something that I normally experience. I even woke up in the morning crying, like I'd been crying in my sleep. I also experienced dry mouth, runny nose, and a sore/scratchy throat. I take allergy medication for head congestion and Xyzal did clear that well. But it caused a runny nose, sore throat and scratchy voice, which aren't any better. I've only taken this for 2 days but I have to stop because not only does it give me more allergy symptoms than I had before I started taking it but it is causing major mood issues. M 45 2 days

1  Seasonal allergies Wow. Since I started taking this, I had horrible spikes in anxiety and depression, brain fog, moodiness, extreme weakness and fatigue. At first I thought it was actual anxiety/depression, but I just looked into reviews for Xyzal because I don't even think it's been helping my allergies, and came across an incredible number of reviews that said this made them feel the exact way I do now. I bought this because it had been recommended to me in the past and was on sale at my local grocery store, but I'll never take this again. I can barely function. F 28 3 days

2  Allergies Horrible headaches & one which was a migraine with vision issues. I've also had some pain in my stomach & diarrhea. I decided to google the side effects & wow I have so many. I'm not going to continue with this medication. I guess I'll be going back on Zyrtec. I've never had so many headaches before. F 37 60 days

1  Chronic Hives Extreme fatigue. Dry nostrils, painful sinuses, lethargic and weak. Dizziness. I'm so gutted I'm going to have to give this drug up as it has worked wonders for my chronic hives. However the cons outweigh the pros for sure and I personally would not recommend this drug to anyone. Can barely stay awake typing this and it's only 3pm! :( F 35 7 days

1  For allergies I had been taking it for about 20 days. One day, out of nowhere I developed an ocular migraine, without pain, but with a flashing kaleidoscope vision in my right eye. That lasted for 5 minutes. Then within a few minutes, a mild headache started. Then, about half hour later, I started to have a problem talking. I couldn't think of words, and I couldn't speak the words. Then an extreme panic attack came on. I started to feel like I was having a stroke, and that I was going to die or pass out. I felt weak, racing heart, heart rate twice my normal rate, increased blood pressure, and the extreme anxiety lasted for about 90 minutes. I continued to have anxiety throughout the evening.  2  Allergies Oof. This caused me to have the most severe fatigue in my entire L I F E. I woke up around day 6 of taking this and I could barely keep my eyes open and had very bad muscle aches and a headache. I could hardly believe I made it through the day of work with out falling over to sleep and I am being very literal here. I also had a vivid nightmare which I never have. Stomach and gas pains also. Foggy thinking. Severe weakness. The only positive is that it did help me with allergies but I think I like to function more than not being able to sneeze.-. . No F 22 6 days

1  Seasonal allergies Hot flashes (but not running a fever), loss of appetite, SEVERE anxiety bordering on panic attack, ringing in ears Doctor recommended switching from Zyrtec (which I have taken safely for decades) to see if it improved my seasonal allergy symptoms. Didn't notice marked improvement in symptoms, but the panic and anxiety came on quickly after a few days. I will never take Xyzal again. M 70 5 days

1  Seasonal allergies It worked incredibly well for seasonal allergies, and after a month, I decided to stay on it as it really knocked me out at night. About a month into using it, I had very strange deep muscle and joint pain and allotted that to getting older. After another two months, it kept getting worse (deep aching hands, lower back, and muscle aches in legs) and I decided to look into this. As it is the only med I take, it didn't take long to see that this is a side effect. I stopped taking it three days ago and hope to continually improve. Thank you everyone for your comments, it has helped me realize that even allergy meds can and do have severe side effect. I just wish i realized this sooner. I would rather deal with allergies any day of the week than feeling arthritic at 54. Be well, F 54 3 months

1  Chronic seasonal allergies Severe anxiety, panic attacks, restlessness, muscle weakness This medication was recommended to me a few years back by my allergy doctor, and I remember thinking it gave me anxiety so I quit taking it after one dose. I came across this medication again recently and decided to give it a second chance due to the many positive reviews it was receiving. I figured that maybe the first time I took it I was just blaming my anxiety on the medication when it was probably something else causing it. Well, I started taking it again two days ago, and while I felt fine after the first day, day two has been filled with nothing but crippling anxiety and a persistent spacey feeling. Today alone I have had two major panic attacks and I feel like I am constantly trembling on the inside. I will never take this medication again. F 20 2 days

2  Hives I've had weight gain in ways I never have before. I am trying hard and can't lose it now only maintain with a very strict diet. I went off it for 2 days when I first started it in Feb and got severe angioedema on my face and in my throat so I couldn't swallow. I had to go to the ER to get IV steroids. Also had tiredness and had no energy for awhile. After reading others, I'm afraid to go off. F 58 4 months

XYZAL  (LEVOCETIRIZINE DIHYDROCHLORIDE):  Levocetirizine is an antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms such as watery eyes, runny nose, itching eyes/nose, and sneezing. It is also used to relieve itching and hives. It works by blocking a certain natural substance (histamine) that your body makes during an allergic reaction. Levocetirizine does not prevent hives or prevent/treat a serious allergic reaction (such as anaphylaxis). If your doctor has prescribed epinephrine to treat allergic reactions, always carry your epinephrine injector with you. Do not use levocetirizine in place of your epinephrine.   (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)
