This product contains 2 medications: amlodipine and valsartan. They both work by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily.  1  HBP Weight gain despite training and eating as before, depression, difficulty breathing (tight chest). Swelling of ankles, bloating, calf pain - I have been running for years and in the last two months have badly strained my calf muscle twice. It lowered my BP, but not worth all the side effects!  1  High blood pressure Pain in my knees. Leg pain. Calve pain. Severe weight gain, 84 kg to 98 kg in 8 months, even when eating and walking the same as before. Eyesight went from normal to wearing glasses in one year. Also be careful guys, this can do liver and kidney damage, when you see your cadiologist, also have those kidney functions done and checked at your urologist. This stuff can be over prescribed in frequency taken and perhaps dosages are too high as well. Be very careful with co exforge M 42 0 years

2  High blood pressure Brain fog, extremely Fatigued, depersonalisation, muscle pain in upper back, feet and legs, tingling sensations in feet and fingers with pins and needles and prickling feeling, Joint pain in knees, heart racing, anxiety. I had to discontinue this drug because apart from the other awful side effects I developed peripheral nerve pain sensations followed by excruciating pain in my feet and was unable to stand or walk. As soon as I stopped taking it the pain subsided but has never fully gone away after 9 months now. I also developed muscle stiffness and pain in my calf and thigh muscles. F 41 2 months

5  High blood pressure Not so sure it is related to exforge but the past few months my gums are looser even with regular brushing and the past 2 days the ankles have been swelling. I also take Bystolic 10 mg & recently added Montelukast for allergy & 1200 units of calcium as recommend by my doctor to ward off any bone loss due to aging, have put on weight that I can't seem to lose...even thought I walk 2 miles every single stinking day . I'm hoping these symptoms are not related since Exforge was the only med that worked & does not make me cough. F 59 7 years

3  HBP It controls my bp pretty well ( better than other drugs I have tried). Weight gain (and cannot lose any weight after being on it for over a year). Swelling in ankles, seems to go away overnight and starts again next day. Tingling in fingers, toes, and feet. I have not stopped taking it yet but probably will soon. Just hope I can find something else that will work. Every Bp med I have taken has caused swelling of my ankles and legs. F 35 1 years

2  Hypertension About two weeks after starting this medication, I noticed pronounced swelling in my feet and ankles. The swelling would start happening a couple of hours after taking the tablet, and would usually subside in the evening or overnight, only to occur again the next day. Initially I didn't realise it was a side effect, and wondered if it was due to a foot injury (I had been exercising a lot). Decided to stop taking Exforge, and the swelling stopped happening immediately. However, around the same time I began to notice some numbness in my toes and fingertips, and changed sensations mainly in the soles of my feet and palms of my hands, but also progressing up my legs and arms to some degree. The sensation is one of increased sensitivity, which makes walking unpleasant and also touching things with my hands. My GP says it is a peripheral nerve problem, but not damage, which should resolve after a few weeks. I'm not so sure. I have read that Exforge can caue peripheral nerve damage, and am con Be very careful with this medication. I suffered two significant side effects from different ingredients in the tablet. If you notice any of these effects, especially any peripheral nerve problems, I think it would be best to stop taking the tablets immediately and contact your GP ASAP. M 56 5 weeks

2  prescribed instead of beta blockers Uncomfortable swelling of feet and ankles. Possible skin hypersensitivity (not sure if this is due to exforge, or has another cause at this stage). Exforge seemed to help reduce my blood pressure to some degree, but the side effects were very uncomfortable and somewhat distressing, so have discontinued use. M 56 5 weeks
