5  Fibromyalgia Extreme sleepiness and dry mouth/eyes with dizziness the first several weeks until I adjusted. Fibromyalgia symptoms are much less frequent and nerve pain decreased dramatically after the first day. My depression symptoms are also greatly diminished. However, I have developed RLS that's driving me crazy! F 48 18 months

5  Body pain, mild depression Fatigue at first that went away, but I was on 40 and quickly went back down to 20mg. years later thought I might get RLS from it, but not sure, I am on other medications. This medication made both my depression and body pain disappear. I have extreme arthritis and some neuropathy, and it is 75% gone to 95% on most days. I thought I don't need this small dose, and went off it, but my body pain returned so much, and depression, it was scary how much. I realize this really made a difference for me. 64 2.5 years

1  MDD & GAD - new onset of EXTREME restless leg syndrome (like my body starts flailing around uncontrollably) - anger, irritability - aching legs - chills - unable to sleep or even relax at all due to RLS (which I didn't even know was a thing until I got it from duloxetine) Wondering now if I am doomed to have RLS for life?? This sucks. Didn't help my depression and I still have the RLS 1.5 weeks after quitting duloxetine. F 40 3 weeks

2  Anxiety panic disorder After approximately two weeks on the medication I began experiencing numbness and tingling in my hands. I also noticed that I seemed more anxious than what I had prior to beginning the medication. I have been a nurse for 14 years and in six months I will graduate as a nurse practitioner so I tried very hard to stay on the medication to see if the side effects would subside. Then after being on it approximately one month I began having tremors. These were especially notable in the mornings upon waking up. It was almost as if I had jerking movements even pouring a cup of coffee. This was especially frightening because my grandmother passed away from Parkinson’s disease. Then I almost immediately started having muscle twitches in my lower legs which is also frightening. I also experienced joint pain and severe muscle fatigue (especially in my upper and lower arms thighs and calves). Along with this cake joint pain and stiffness as well. After trying this drug for three months I am discontinuing use. The side effects have been horrific. However, for some people I hear this drug does work very well but for others who have side effects its extremely frustrating. Since I am a nurse and soon to be Nurse Practitioner I do not want to imply that this medication can’t work for some people. This medication may work wonders for some. However, in my experience and in the experience of multiple friends I know who have also taken this medication, it has caused extensive side effects. I am hoping that the withdrawal from this medication is not as horrible as everyone indicates. F 43 90 days

5  Depression, grief, severe headaches Always thirsty, dry mouth, some restlessness, jittery at times I have to say that I was not wanting to get back on an anti-depressant after being off them for years, but I'm a bereaved Mom and the sadness is a constant struggle. I also had daily stress headaches and that in itself was making me very depressed. I started taking 30 mg, and a week later up to 60 mg. My appetite is less (not a bad thing), I have not had a headache since beginning Cymbalta. My body aches are lessened. It feels like someone turned the "volume" down in my head so my sadness and depressed mood are almost gone. I'm looking forward to things again, I feel hopeful and happier than I have in awhile. I've read all the awful reviews and I'm happy I have nothing but good to report. It has really pulled me out of a bad space, so I'm able to be a functioning happy Mom and wife again. F 52 3 weeks

1  PTSD Symptoms After 4 1/2 years on Cymbalta(30mg), and still dealing with Depression from PTSD, I had a 24 hr psychosis event and ended up in the emergency room. My doctor then thought it best to bump my dosage to 60 mg. That extra 30mg of Cymbalta , almost was the last nail in my coffin. Within a few months I was always irritable and angry verbally abusive to my family. My anxiety was on full blast and I couldn't turn it off, causing tremors and restless legs. I slept 3 to 4 days a week, and I had extreme depression. I had migraines and lived in a fog and couldn't even comprehend basic responsibilities , like paying my bills or working my cell phone. I showed paranoia symptoms and my blood pressure would raise or drop at any given moment, I was often dizzy or light headed, probably from the raising and falling of my blood pressure. My heart would beat rapidly much of the time, and my sleep patterns way off. Because many of these symptoms resembled extreme PTSD symptoms and my VA doctor so many mil I am experiencing residue side effect, after a few months without Cymbalta, mostly in tremors and restless legs. Also there is alway an amount of anxiety and nervousness that I never had before, and now rarely goes away. M 50 6 years

1  Muscular pain, depression, anxiety The first 2 months it seemed to be fine, then the terrible night sweats came, the headaches, dizziness, out of sorts feeling came. Since last November my tendons on both arms started hurting by the elbow, then came extreme fatigue, and heaviness And pain in the calves of my legs came. Not to mention the acid reflux, having bowel movements 5 times in the morning, abdominal cramping, couldent eat, no appetite. Had stomach checked with upper GI and colonoscopy. Now I have an erosive esophagus. My doctor at the time sent me to 2 ENT doctors a Rhuemotogist, went to ER in Dec and Jan. Forgot to mention stuffed up nose and constant cough. Changed my primary care Dr, had tests on my heart, ultra sound in legs, so now I have fast heart rate, poor circulation. Had 5 friends pass away from December 2014 to May of 2015 started getting depressed. I went to a shrink and they increased the dose to 90 mg. Took it for 2 months and felt worse than ever. Started weaning off cymbalta with shrinks help and he added 50 mg zoloft as I weaned off. As of last Sunday I don't take the cymbalta any longer. But I still have bad pain in my right arm, legs and feet, the pain is heaviness and electic shocks. The sweating stopped, I still have diarreha, and nausea and pain all over my body. I do have scolosis in my T spine. Hips hurt joints in feet snap crackle and pop, from time to time dizziness and headache. It's been 1 week since I quit taking this poison. I'm afraid that my legs will never be the same. I F 57 1 days

1  depression and anxiety major weight gain (50 lbs.), profuse sweating, body aches and pains, muscle jerking, restless leg, problems sleeping, increased depression and lethargy This drug worked for a brief time, but continually plateaued leaving me having to increase the dosage. My weight shot through the roof, nothing could curb it, let alone stop it. My memory began to suffer greatly...my cognitive skills have plummeted. I have been withdrawing from it for the past 4 months and my symptoms include, headaches, extreme mood swings (from weeping to elation to hostility), swollen legs and feet, body aches and pains (flu like symptoms), cognitive impairments: can't recall words, retelling of events, forgetting dates, brain fog, forgetfulness, brain zaps (like your head is a snow globe and someone came along and shook it for a second), ringing in the ears (which probably will never go away), itching, sleep problems, vivid weird dreams, sensory overloading, and the list goes on and on and on...  1  5 Scoliosis surgeries, Anxiety, etc. Arms/legs felt like they were on fire. Cold sweats. Sleepless restless nights. Anxiety got worse. Paranoia. Crazy dreams. Vomiting. Worsened back pain. Headaches. Blurry vision. Constant yawning with gagging. Lack of appetite. Jitters and twitches. Shivering when not cold. Sensitivity to light. Worsened depression. Everything tasted weird like chemicals. Electricity/tingly feeling in hands and feet. Eyes felt like someone was holding them open, pupils super dilated. Uncomfortable feeling overall in my own skin, couldn't move without the pain all over my body worsening... I have had 5 Scoliosis surgeries in the past 8 years, the last two were this April 2015, in the same week, Emergency surgeries, I had rods (hardware) in my back, one of the screws got loose and moved into my spinal canal pinching my spinal cord. I almost ended up paralyzed, or like my surgeon said, I could have died if it cut my spinal cord. Throughout my surgeries they have removed 3 rib bones and a piece of my hip bone to fuse my spine. Through the everyday pain and struggle, I have suffered through severe depression, anxiety, and lots of pain. My doctor thought, let's try a medication that deals with all 3 of those things. So she prescribed Cymbalta... I had high hopes, since she seemed like it was such an amazing medication that I'd probably end up all smiles, lollipops and kittens with the sun shining out of my ass... Nope, a whole lot of nope, I went Through hell with this medication, I thought I was dying, it puts you through the worst hell imaginable, I kept wishing i could just rush myself to the hospital and flush it all out of my system. It made everything worse, I could not Function, I would never recommend Cymbalta to anyone unless you have a death wish... Good luck to anyone about to take it,I know a lot of people's systems are different. I saw more negative outcomes on this medication on this page than i saw any good feedback. I ignored all the negative posts... Big mistake, because now I'm one of those that has to add to them... F 23 1 months

4  bipolar major depressive episode weight gain, sluggishness, sleepiness, restless legs, rashes, slow healing wounds. What a strange drug. I just say at the outset that it definitely helped the depression and seeing as that was making me suicidal I can offset the multiple side effects against that. But it's after the depression passed that I realised how it had wrecked my physical bod somewhat. Weight gain was appalling and by the time came when I realised it had done all it could for the depression I was feeling very "zonked", a sign with me that it's time to reduce meds because the episode is gone. The thing is, nobody should be just placed on an anti depressant forever. You are not ALWAYS depressed, it is a reaction to something happening in your life where your mind cannot handle it. My psych was great, we reduced it quite quickly with a few, not many, initial anxiety days where my biochemistry got used to being without and now, six months down the line I feel a lot better, am losing weight and feeling like my old self. Would I take it again? Maybe. If the depression was threatening my life once more. F 42 2.5 years
