| 4 | birth control | sleepiness, loss of concentration, slight decrease in sex-drive. | I'm on Yaz, the low-estrogen dose of Yasmin. The first two months were a bit trying. I had started a short-term course of antibiotics around the same time, and I felt as though I had to battle a yeast infection (first ever) for an entire month. By month 2.5, however, I felt healthier than ever. I've actually lost weight since I started (125 lbs to 118lbs), but my belly area isn't as tone as it used to be(barely noticeable). Also, my breast size increased slightly (still same cup size), which I didn't mind at all. Also during the first month, my libido increased to almost frustrating levels. :) At month four, however, the lingering side-effects are a loss of concentration (I have ADHD and had to increase my ADHD medication), sleepiness/tireness (I feel like I need an hour or two more of sleep now... and yet, I still feel slightly dazed), and a slight *decrease* in sex-drive (although it's still a bit higher than my significant other's). This started again after giving birth, so my doctor suggested Yasmin for the pain and of course as a birth control. Then I tried the Nuva Ring for 2 months but felt that it was uncomfortable during sex so I decided to finally try the pill. I have never felt as depressed in my life as I had felt within the first month of taking Yasmin. It scared me such much that I actually went so far as to see a therapist for a month or so. Once I remembered that the doctor had told me it can cause depression in some people I realized that the pill could be my problem as I've never been depressed like that before. These feelings continued throughout the time I was on this pill though to a slightly less severe degree in the later months. I just started a pack of Loestrin 24Fe yesterday. But I'm planning on switching to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo as my insurance doesn't cover Loestrin. I also gained a lot of weight! That's what I have experienced. I've also had leg pain in my right calf- like others have said. The only good part about this medicine is that I experience less PMS symptoms and my periods are very light--and short. It is much better than other birth-controls that I have been on (atleast it's way better than the generic of ortho-tricyclen). I also had nausea and stomach problems when I first went on Yaz...
