OZEMPIC  (SEMAGLUTIDE):  Semaglutide is used with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. Proper control of diabetes may also lessen your risk of a heart attack or stroke. Semaglutide is similar to a natural hormone in your body (incretin). It works by causing insulin release in response to high blood sugar (such as after a meal) and decreasing the amount of sugar your liver makes. If you use insulin, semaglutide is not a substitute for insulin treatment.   FDA Approval Date: 2017-12-05 (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

1  Pre diabetic, obesity I'm no longer taking this medication. Horrible stomach pain from beginning. Did not help my appetite and I have since learned the delayed stomach emptying was disastrous for a compulsive over eater. Did not work for me. F 66

4  Diabetes Nausea, sulphur burps, some constipation (at the beginning, largely gone now). Body seems to have got used to it. The drug reduces appetite by slowing down digestion. You can learn to avoid the side effects by modifying your eating habits to smaller portions, eating healthy food and avoiding heavy stuff (fried food, sweets and cakes, too much meat etc). It's a lifestyle choice and if you do the wrong things, the drug will make you feel sick. I have lost 13 kilos in 6 months and my blood sugar readings have dropped considerably. Exercise is also important, even light to moderate. M 64 6 months

1  Type 2 diabetes Destroyed my stomach!! 4 trips to the ER. Even ER docs said they were treating many patients sick from this drug Pure poison Never could go past 0.25 dose due to being so sick on low dose which I was on for 6 mos Didn't need weight loss but became deathly ill and skinny Came off drug slowly. Has taken months to feel better. Stomach never recovered fully. Please BE CAREFUL It's been proven to be a problem medication Has to see (still seeing) a gastro doc. Placed on 3 meds to help my stomach I threw all remaining Ozempic away (sharps container) Refuse to use any of these type meds. Watching my numbers on my own. I've always eaten healthy. I rather do this than inject this poisen. I can't believe people use this for weight loss very dangerous and 1/2 the time it was out of stock due to the obese hogging it up. Well they can have it LOL !! F 45 6 months

3  Weight loss Vomiting that would come on so suddenly. I didn't even feel nauseous. My mouth would just start to water and I would know that it was coming. I literally would have to run to the bathroom and it wasn't like there was anything in my stomach. I would just be retching and dry, heaving over and over. It reminded me of the times in college when I would drink too much and get really sick. I mean those god awful throwing up times. But this drug it doesn't give you any heads up of when the nausea or more importantly, the vomiting is going to start. It's so random. my body conditioned itself to just not eat or drink anything because everything made me feel so sick. Even thinking of what I threw up the last time thinking of it would make me so sick that I would start throwing up which is just crazy. But the sad thing is this truck really does work but at what cost? If I had a job, I would not be able to keep it right now because I'm even scared to drive because how embarrassing I'm gonna be sitting at a light and have to start vomiting, and each time I vomit , it's at least four or five full on throw ups and then four or five more of just dry heaving, depending on what's in my stomach. And then I will crawl back to bed because I'm so weak and think that it is over because there was nothing in my stomach to begin with F 51 3 months

1  Type 2 diabetes Constipation, fatigue, urinary tract issues, joint pain, nausea, feverish. Started taking.25mg dose by needle. Noted weekly constipation, extreme fatigue. Lost a lot of weight fast but that's because you feel nauseous. My A1C didn't come down as much as promised. Urinary tract infections, 3 times over the time taking it. Doctor upped dose to 0.5 mg after discontinuation of Jardiance as he suspected that was the reason for recurring infection. Within two days of increased dose, severe back pain, no sleep, severe joint pain and feverish/ fatigue. Ceased medication immediately. This drug is not for everyone. M 52 11 months

1  Weight loss Im a 33 yo female, I started on .25mg of Ozempic 8 weeks ago to the day. 1 needle once a week. In that time I have lost a total of 6kg however my back, neck and chest areas became covered in large red pimples. I couldn’t find any help online showing that was a side effect so I am in the process of getting my bloods checked. The last month or so I’ve been feeling really flat, my mood hasn’t been great and it wasnt until lastnight that it all seemed to come to a head, I broke down, I had an overwhelming feeling of fear and dread. Luckily I had my mum here so she helped me talk about what could be the issue. This morning I woke up and it hit again but worse, I was shaking, vomiting and pasing around the house all day with suicidal thoughts. I managed to get my doctor on the phone who told me to immediately stop using Ozempic as this medication is now under investigation for the same thing. Thankfully I have my family around me but I wish this was told to me prior to using. Be careful F 33 70 days

1  Type 2 Diabetes blood clots, macular degeneration, severe constipation, hair loss, stomach pain, bloating, nausea, headaches, trouble sleeping, dry mouth, depression, brain fog, confusion, forgetfulness, loss of appetite, loss of interest in life. I had headaches, constipation, bloating, burping, dry mouth. brain fog started. I would be in the middle of a sentence and couldn't finish it. Then came the sleeping issues, It would take me 4-5 hours to fall asleep (even with prescription sleep meds) My A1c numbers NEVER went down. In fact they went up. Then my hair started falling out in clumps. I read this about everyone and the doctors and the people who want to believe in Ozempic because they want to be skinny no matter what, "Oh your hair falls out because you're losing weight too quickly." That is a lie. I never lost a single pound on Ozempic and my hair fell out in clumps. Then one morning I woke up and my eyes were full of blood. I rushed to an emergency ophthalmologist who did tests. Turns out I had lots of tiny blood clots in my eyes. Some had burst. He asked me, "Are you taking Ozempic?" I wasn't his only patient who had this problem. A week later I was in the ER again I had a blot clot in my arm. I was done. Today starts my 4th month off of Ozempic. My blood sugar are still crazy no matter what I do. My bowel movements are still messed up. I stil have tiny blood clots in my eyes. And my hair, which I lost about 75% of it on Ozempic is just now starting to come back, but it is very, very slow. My blood sugars on Ozempic were worse than before, they are still high. I joined a forum and some people who did not have diabetes before they started it now have it. F 50 10 months

1  Type 2 Diabetes blood clots, macular degeneration, severe constipation, hair loss, stomach pain, bloating, nausea, headaches, trouble sleeping, dry mouth, depression, brain fog, confusion, forgetfulness, loss of appetite, loss of interest in life. My doctor gave me a sample of Ozempic in the office and sent me home with it without any warnings. That started a year of some of the worst times in my life. I was constipated so badly that my doctor sent me to the ER where they gave me the same prep that they give for colonoscopies, it did NOTHING. Even the ER doctors were worried. Finally, one doctor said that he heard that if you give it to yourself if the upper arm rather than the stomach or leg that the constipation goes away. I stayed in the ER for 24 hours and finally had a tiny BM but they sent me home. I had headaches, upset stomach (with no diarrhea) bloating, burping, dry mouth that never went away no matter how much I drank. Then around month 4 and moving from .5 to 1 mg the brain fog started. I would be in the middle of a sentence and couldn't finish it. My doctor assured me that it would go away. Then came the sleeping issues, It would take me 4-5 hours to fall asleep (even with prescription sleep meds) only for me to have to wake up and go to work. I was in hell. And I have to point out that my A1c numbers NEVER went down. In fact they went up. The doctor again assured me it would take time. Then my hair started falling out in clumps.
