| 1 | Labial Adhesion made a pap test difficult | UTIs, vaginal itching, spotting | I went for a pap test, which turned out to be difficult and painful due to labial adhesion. It has been 9 years since my last period, and I haven't been sexually active for a long time. I have not had any noticeable symptoms of vaginal problems until the Pap test discovered the labial adhesion. It has also probably been at least 20 years since I had a UTI. I was prescribed Vagifem 10mg, to be inserted once every three days, to help with the labial fusion and papery thin vaginal walls. The goal was to get things in better shape to make future pap tests easier. Within a couple weeks of starting I developed a UTI. It seemed odd at the time, because it had been so long since I'd had one. I was prescribed an antibiotic, but it didn't seem to knock it out of my system. It would seem like it was gone and then a few days later I would have symptoms again. I made sure I was drinking a lot as I was previously diagnosed with moderate chronic dehydration. I also knew that drinking lots was a good way to flush bacteria out of my bladder. This continued for weeks, and I started noticing a pattern. Bladder issues were always worse (frequent urge to urinate, and painful) after inserting a Vagifem. It would seem to get better after a couple days, and then worse again with the next insertion. This week, on top of that, I felt itching inside my vagina, and then a discharge, which turned out to be blood. The spotting scared me.
