1  Asthma My daughter was on this medication for 20 days, her behavior changed almost immediately, throwing fits that were not normal 3 year old fits, I had to pick her up from daycare 3 different times for being mean to other kids and just being completely out of control, the last episode was completely horrible. The daycare recorded her and I could not even believe that it was my child she was so angry and aggressive throwing chairs across the room. After it was over with she was crying and apologizing saying she did not know why she did it, and it is not fair. We stopped the medication last night so hopefully she will get back to normal.  1  Montelukast generic brand for allergies My son has been taking this drug since he was 4 years old . He stopped taking it by 11 years old. This drug gave him nitemares , depresssion ,suicidal thoughts ,headaches, and anxiety. He doesnt want to be around people or go outside. My son likes to stay inside play his videogames and text in the phone with family. He is getting better at socializing especially with family now. He has anger issues too. I wish the nitemares would end for him. This drug has caused my son nitemares since he was 4 years old but I really didnt pay attention to it. He stated he had them at early age. Please review this drug .. Its not a great med for children. Parents be cautious with this med. M 13 7 years

1  Allergic Asthma My 7/8 year old daughter took this and experienced severe night terrors, anxiety, fear of death, INSANE aggressive behavior, kicking, hitting, etc., After discontinuing the medication she returned back to her normal, kind self although she still has some residual fear/night terrors. It isn't as effective for asthma as some physicians claim. Our pulmonologist suggested that a daily inhaler with occasional albuterol and maybe a daily anti-histamine is more effective at controlling the asthma. An allergist suggested the Singulair - the pulmonologist basically said it wasn't even needed. And he was right. She's gotten better in her behavior and asthma since stopping it. F 8 1 years

1  Chronic cough Afraid to sleep alone possible night terrors. Obsessed with not letting anyone around her close their eyes. She did not want anyone going to sleep or take naps. She couldn’t express why but it was causing her so much anxiety. She always had a little stutter that she most likely will grow out of but seemed to be magnified this week. With the stutter she started blinking her left eye which is new. Last night was her last dose and I’m hoping she will get back to normal. F 3.5 7 days

1  Allergy Suicide ideation, extreme anxiety, hallucinations, extreme nightmares (couldn’t be woken up from) extreme melt downs & anger outbursts, self harm, extreme fear of sleep & being alone & many more unfortunately Doctors & pharmacists need to be educated on the high risks associated with this medication.  1  My daughter had asthma. Neuropsychiatric meltdown. OCD, ADHD, nightmares, seizures, hallucinations. The anxiety and ADHD was during the medication, the rest of the symptoms came as Post Acute Withdrawl Syndrome. We literally lost our daughter for a little over four months to the side effects. Horrifying. Medical professionals are either woefully unaware or willfully ignorant of how this medication affects the human brain. Unfortunately you have to be a freelance pharmacist to protect yourself these days. We still get vaccines and take Advil and whatnot, but my GOD this drug destroys lives. I've seen it in hundreds of other cases firsthand. F 8 5 years

1  Seasonal allergies My then 2 year old was on this drug for mild allergies for 18 months she suffered extreme fear, anxiety, depression, memory loss, confusion, agression, self harm, tummy aches and pains in all parts of her body, always sad and scared, loss of communication and emotion, agression towards others and herself, bed wetting, Hallucinations, hearing voices, could not sleep or sleep alone. We were not informed of these neurospsychiatric side effects or any of these others we assumed it was a toddler and the terrible 2 and 3s but we now know it wasnt. We took her off and her recovery began with withdrawals and intensified side effects slowly she become the little girl I knew she always was. 6 months on and she has recovered but we dont know what damage that drug did to my little girl. This should not be given to children who cannot explain themselves or their emotions F 3 18 months

1  Seasonal allergies HORRIFIC neuropsychiatric side effects that lasted months after ceasing drug. This drug is very dangerous and should NEVER be prescribed to children for seasonal allergies. The benefits do not outweigh the risks. Although the FDA has issued warning issues and listed neuropsychiatric side effects in the packaging, the medical community is generally unaware of these side effects and consider them rare. Unfortunately, they are not rare. M 12 3 weeks

1  Asthma Vivid nightmares, Very Fatigued , Mood swings, Foginess, Loss of concentration especially at school, , Redness & puffiness of the eyes, Bad Headaches.....Loss of interest, vitality... Very upset not advised by Paediatrician of possible side affects, he strongly recommended, no medical instructions in the packet.. ...Searched Singular on the Internet it all makes sense now... Dr's etc, should have a duty of care to advise patients of possible side affects... These side affects are real & Singular should not be given to children, research has shown children's brains are not fully developed til early twenties, what sort of damage is this drug doing to children's long term physiological state.. I find this very disturbing & cannot fathom how pharmaceutical companies can 100% assure there is no long term harmful affects to children's brain from taking this drug.. I find it totally immoral and disturbing that companies take greed & profits over children's physiological & long term health. F 13 15 days

1   Sore teeth, headaches, tummy aches, uncontrollable anxiety and obsessive thoughts, bouts of anger, bouts of crying, depressed thoughts. My son had been taking this medication for several months and it appeared to be helping his asthma greatly. About 3 months in we noticed a change in his behaviour which started with obsessive thoughts about things that could harm him- I put it down to changes at home however things got a whole lot worse to the point where he’s saying horrible things about himself, he’s constantly worried about things harming him and he lashes out or bursts into tears at the slightest issue. I have stopped this medication 4 days ago and I’m praying all these horrible side effects start to disappear and we get our boy back. DO NOT GIVE THIS TO YOUR CHILDREN!!! M 5 4 months

1  Allergy and Child Asthma Preventive Hallucinations, Night Terrors, Aggression, Screaming at night SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE MARKET. My 20 months old has been having night terrors for about 4 months now and hallucinations this past month. Her grandmother started researching singulair and found the link to hallucinations and night terrors. I have completely stopped giving her this medicine. I can't believe Pediatricians are prescribing this drug to children with these types of side-effects. Every child is different but the risk of a child having hallucinations is not worth it. I wish I caught this earlier. Now I need this medicine to get out my baby's system. F 1.5 6 months

1  Asthma My 5 year old daughter was prescribed singular for Asthma. The day after she began taking t she began urinating every 5 to 10 minutes. Talks constantly about having a broken leg and wanting to have a baby. We didn't know this is what was causing these problems. She took it for 14 days and all these problems are still going on. It should be banned for children under 18 years old. My daughter needs a detox it has been 4 days since we ended the Singulair. Praying there are no long time problems. I reported to the FDA but what will they do? Ended the relationship with that allergist, very unsafe. F 5 10 days
