I tore my meniscus it wasn’t healing do to unhealthy bones plus hyperplasia in breast after 23 year survivor. I just don’t feel myself suppose to be on this for 5 years. I have decided to stop taking them and hope to feel like ny old self soon. I am concerned about this decision as a do not want another spinal fracture. Spinal fractures are extremely painful..I do lots of exercise and take calcium and vitamin D. Considering the risk, and my doctors promise to back me up 100% if I felt uncomfortable at any time with side effects of this medication, I went forward with this plan of prevention. By the fourth day I noticed I was not getting a good nights sleep, and seemed to be sweating throughout the day, on the fifth night, my heart began pounding as my left leg ached and my left hand had a spasming sensation that I could not control on my own, and I was dizzy even though I was laying down in bed. I will not take another dose. My feet began swelling to the point of veins showing and discoloration. Also experienced vaginal dryness, which was not a problem prior to taking this. I thought it was something else I was experiencing until I read this forum. I need the estrogen replacement and bone protection, but these side effects are not worth these side effects. It is life alternating and definitely very limiting. I thought I was going crazy! Glad to have found this information here. So sorry that others are experiencing side effects but glad to be made aware. Thanks to all the sharing of information. | Doctor put me on this due to "heart and breast cancer" in my family and didn't want to try the " older" medications used for this. Makes me wonder what the big push behind it is. After reading the replies here, I will definitely be looking for alternatives, regardless of the doc's pushing it. Time to think of alternatives. Wondering if Estroven (OTC) along with my regular calcium/magnesium supplements will be sufficient. I am honestly giving up on some of the traditional medical advice on this. Very disheartening. I told him I couldn't take any of the drugs the advertisements swear are the best ever, I didn't want to feel sick all the time. He recommended I try Evista because it would not cause those side effects.....I've been on it for 3 months and have felt like I have the flu, sinus infection symptoms, stuffy head, achy all over, the whole nine yards. I didn't relate these symptoms to the Evista because I thought this would be different, just thought I really was sick. Started researching and found this website and I'm thankful I did, I now totally believe the horrible way I've been feeling the past three months is from the Evista! I'm done with it, no more! I will try and get more calcium and just pray I don't break a bone, but definitely will not take Evista again.
