I wasn't about to pass out from exhaustion 24/7. I feel like I have my life back. I take 300mg a day. It gives me a subtle steady wakefulness... it's not a fake jittery feeling. It feels natural. In fact it's so natural that I thought the medicine wasn't working so I stopped and the next day I was soo exhausted. Also, I'm ADD and although it wasn't prescribed to treat my ADD, it has improved that as well. I am a married 35 year old female with no children. I have tried every sleep aid available (both prescription and non-prescription). I participated in a sleep study and it was determined that I never reached restful sleep (I never got beyond stage 2 sleep). I struggle to stay awake at work on a daily basis - the worst is trying to stay awake in meetings. My boss is aware of my problem and is very supportive - I am lucky. However, I attend other business meetings with people who are not aware of my problem and it is a very difficult situation. Since none of the sleep aids I have been prescribed work well enough, it is assuring to know that Provigil can aid me in my quest for a normal life. I am aware of the potential of becoming addicted and take Provigil only after a very very poor night of sleep. For me, Provigil is a miracle. I can function at work all day and no longer fall a sleep at the drop of a dime. I have never taken more than 100mg and generally find that 50mg gives me the ability to make it through the day.
