| 3 | Endometriosis | Hot Flashes, depression, severe mood swings, weight gain, insomnia, anxiety, vaginitis | I have taken 3 shots so far and I do feel a relief from the pelvic pain I was experiencing, but the side effects are very difficult to deal with. I just keep telling myself that is only temporary...I can not wait until I am done with the other 3 shots. My boyfriend deserves a medal for putting up with me. I feel so out of control from this medicine sometimes that I don't even realize how I am acting. Just recently, I have had vaginitis problems, which I originally thought was yeast. My doctor actually had to give me an estrogen cream to use which has some wonderful side effects of its own. Not fun to say the least. I have also recently been experiencing depression and weight gain. It's no wonder my clothes don't fit! I am vegetarian, exercise, eat mostly organic foods and yet I still keep gaining weight. It will be worth it in the long run, though. Hopefully, I will not have any trouble conceiving and if I do, I will really be angry. I did have hot flashes but not until my second month...then I got them all day long.I did suffer joint pain in my knees and hands...so I took aleve and that helped. I had the insomnia too. The worst side affect was the moodiness!!! My husband deserves a medal for putting up with me! But after two months my cysts were gone!! We really want a baby and this will hopefully do the trick! | You have to decide if it will be worth it for you! I had a short term therapy goal w/ Lupron. Those of you who are thinking about taking this long term need to think long and hard about these side effects...they can affect your lives more than the original problem you have! A year later I began another cycle after my hysterectomy. I quit taking the shots after the 2nd month.. I will NEVER take this medication again. The side effects were too severe! I told her that I would rather endure the pain twice a month than take the medication. That is how bad I think the side effects are. For the first two injections I had the typical side effects of hot flashes, insomnia, fatigue, low-grade fever, and low sex drive. My third and final injection caused horrible joint pain that migrated around all of my joints aside for my spine and took a full year to ultimately dissipate. While taking the drug, I also had intermediate stabbing headaches that would come on in the back of my head, throbbing deeply and painfully with my heartbeat for a few minutes before disappearing. I have not had a recurrence of those headaches or the above symptoms per se. However, three years later, I now suffer easy tendon injury and flareups of joint pain as well as having multiple abnormally low hormone levels.
