| 4 | High blood pressure | Im the one that submitted the review on 10/19/2019 . Please read the side effects there. I wanted to add some info . At first my cardiologist insisted that i take metropolol 50mg last march 2019 but my bp spikes (180/110) continued for 6 months and metropolol literally made my life very very difficult . I couldnt walk for more than 10 minutes without my bp spiking along with breathlessness and extreme fatigue severe insomnia and severe anxiety. I went to another cardiologist and he had me discontinue meteopolol gradually (must be tapered or you risk rebound high bp and super palpitations or worst heart attack) he had me take losartan 50mg then switched to diovan 80mg which i cut in half now with very good results. NOTE: diovan will take up to 2 weeks to fully control your bp as i found out at the first week i still had bp spikes but it remained 110/70 after 2 weeks sometimes as low as 99/60. I also found out Vitamin B conplex supplements trigger palpitations so i stopped them. I take Magnesium oxide 400mg soft gels once a day and ashwagandha now after dinner with very good results i fall asleep after an hour without difficulty and theres no need for sleep aid etc (WARNING: Melatonin can lead to asthma like symptoms i found out the hard way 3 times i had difficulty breathing please do not use melatonin if you are unfit or deppressed. studies published in the net state melatonin can inflame your lung passages hence the asthma like symptoms. Felt really tired at 5PM onwards with mild diarrhea(2 to 3 times a day) and bloating. I rolled the dice and cut the 80mg in half and thank God our Lord Jesus Christ our Great Healer and Savior bp is still stable 110/70 sometimes 99/60 with very negligible side effects , i dont have diarrhea anymore and gas is back to normal levels. Weakness of knees virtually gone except when I get too tired. No more insomnia . I take it with food in the morning along with fish oil. | Diovan has an advantage over losartan because losartan's blood pressure lowering effect diminishes at night when taken in the morning once a day . Diovan keeps it low but the side effects can REALLY affect quality of life. Not a perfect reading, systolic high, diastolic ok. Going to ask for more blood and thyroid tests and pushing to find a cause rather than treating symptoms. Apparently they are not an issue for me---I had loads of tests, all is well. Bet the docs knew it was medicine related. At MY suggestion, my dr. agreed I could take my 80mg in a divided dose 2X/day (12 hrs. apart). It has made all the difference! NO racing heartbeats, NO fatigue, NO spiking or low BP. I feel absolutely fine. Ask your dr. about taking a divided dose--works very well for me. No other health issues nor other Rx's. | Somewhat concerned about recalls of any of these HBP meds--did have to change out one of them due to "contamination". This recall is due to an impurity, N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), which was found in the recalled products. However, not all products containing valsartan are being recalled. NDMA is classified as a probable human carcinogen (a substance that could cause cancer) based on results from laboratory tests. The presence of NDMA was unexpected and is thought to be related to changes in the way the active substance was manufactured. She was hesitant but after my crying spell she agreeded. She did give me a steroid shot because my excema was so bad. Two months has gone by and I’ve not had to do my Light Treatment or put drops in my ear or used steroid cream on my face. Also sleeping very well and not waking up itching all the time.
