This was followed by extreme heartburn along with a fast heart rate. It's been 24 hours since I've taken it and I'm still feeling the side effect of the stomach pain and back pain. Ive never experienced something like this in my entire life and have many health issues. The only thing I did different that day was take Allegra. I was told by a senior consultant in dermatology that this was impossible to be the cause so I never thought about stopping and instead had numerous tests on my heart. What do you know, after a year I stopped in desperation as I really felt this could be the cause, TWO DAYS after stopping this and going back to cetrizine my heart problems have stopped completely. Awful medication. I have ectopic beats but very rarely and to go from several a day to hundreds was scary for me, this med clearly messed up the sync of my heart. Low blood pressure, sudden acute feelings of doom. These might not be side effects per se but caused by allegra blocking the receptors histamine was intended to bind to. The histamine has to do something else so it binds to other receptors that case more unusual symptoms. | Allegra (Not allegra d) does control basic allergy symptoms but causes wierder histamine symptoms to manifest in me at least. After taking it for about a week my throat started to swell, a problem I never had before. Then a few weeks in I started to get dangerously low blood pressure and sudden acute feelings of doom, both of which are histamine related problems I have never had before. I have stopped talking it and these problems went away but my basic allergy symptoms came back. I am wondering if it blocks the histamine from causing the basic allergy symptoms so instead histamine causes the weirder ones. This might be the cause of the anxiety people are talking about. Use it with caution. I'm not an expert but to all the naysayers please don't tell me how I feel. I did fine at first but after a couple of weeks I developed severe fatigue. I cut out the Nasacort first with some improvement in the fatigue. I continue the Allegra for another few months, sometimes taking an additional 60 mg. The fatigue continued and in a couple of cases, I literally thought I was going to die. I got on this forum and noticed several people were having problems with fatigue. I cut out Allegra all together after three months of fatigue and noticed a return of energy. I now only take 60 mg at night and have had good results.
