| 3 | fibro/osteo/chronic pain | little bit sleepy, warmth/hot flashes at times (could be the menopause part tho not sure since pain sometimes comes in at hot flashing like waves as well) other than than now none. | stopped the other crap (cymbalta) and did much much better so it was the other that was causing all the unwanted side effects. i so far will continue this (so long as can afford it) and now have lortab for when i get breakthrough pain as ibuprofen and tylenols too much causes ear ringing. Prior to this med, I was controlling my pain with lortab 10/500 and then to 10/325 2ea @3-4 times per day for 8+yrs. New doc, so new ideas i guess- & quite costly so why fix what was already working for me? my verdict still out on this med and not sure if my side effects are actually from the cymbalta i'm also on or this kadian or both put together but currently i am feeling worthless and going backwards in my pain management/quality of life. | when it finally kicked in for pain relief, it did work well, so if can get pain back under control (still in trial version at present), it may be ok - i am still concerned taking morphine, and since i can't work right now concerned with cost, but i do like the idea of 1 pill per day as opposed to 6-8, so long as i get no breakthrough pain. I was on oxycontin/oxycodone for break-thru pain for 3 years (130 mg total). I no longer need add'l break-thru relief. I am taking 60 mg twice daily and do not have the high (detached) side effect of opiates. My life is my own again. I now take Kadian 60mg/8hrs w/ no MSIR. I have good pain releif w/ limited breakthough pain when I push myself to hard, but I now have somewhat of a life. Kadian is been very successful for me and I strongly recommend it to those who have CHRONIC pain, and are looking for a analgesic that does not carry a large amount of side effects.
