| 2 | Hypercholesterolemia | Very tired, depressed, hard to get a good breath, racing heartbeat, anxiety. Calf cramps all day long, muscle pain, especially in shoulders and chest, GI aches, exhausted for the rest of the day after exercise. | These symptoms are with 15mg. At 10mg I did fine but doc wasn't satisfied with chol levels. Tried 20 and got severe joint pain and hand pain/numbness. Did a DIY test to see if this fatigue/anxiety was statin-related and recently quit for 2 days. By the end of 2nd day I felt fine and full of energy again. Started Pravachol again and 2 days later, exhausted again. Also was taking a lot of medicines to treat the side effects I didn't recognize I was having of the lipitor and pracvachol-- after getting off these statins I am no longer needing all the drugs for the nausea, the headaches, the pains and edema. And the medicines I was given to treat the side effects--- from the medicines given to treat the side effect (like a real vicious cycle). Those medicines made me able to tolerate the side effects from both Lipitor and Pravachol longer than I would have tolerated them. Medscape research inicates Zocor and others DO cross blood-brain barrier, which may explain their higher association with memory loss and nerve problems. Mom had loss of nerve sensitivity on bottoms of her feet after a few months on Baycol.
