NASACORT  (TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE):  This medication is used in a variety of conditions such as allergic disorders, arthritis, blood diseases, breathing problems, certain cancers, eye diseases, intestinal disorders, collagen and skin diseases. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of triamcinolone, especially if it is to be injected near your spine (epidural). Rare but serious side effects may occur with epidural use. Triamcinolone acetonide is known as a corticosteroid hormone (glucocorticoid). It works by decreasing your body's immune response to these diseases and reduces symptoms such as swelling.   FDA Approval Date: 1991-07-11 (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

1  Sinus infection, allergies Horrible anxiety, panic attacks, blood pressure spike. Light headedness, acne, weight gain Have been on for about 7 weeks , worst summer of my life, basically to work and home couldn't leave the house due to horrible anxiety and light headedness almost all the time. Cleared up my nose but was not worth it. I stopped taking it about 1 week ago and still have side effects, I pray this goes away. Be careful. M 36 7 weeks

1  Allergies/avoid sinus infection Nausea within a few minutes. I tried to lay down and let it pass, only to projectile vomit repeatedly (6 or 7 times). I didn’t know I even had that much fluid in me to vomit. Despicable. Didn’t combine it with anything. It made me vomit as if I had food poisoning. F 40 1 days

2  Allergies Extreme vertigo. Occasionally had dizziness before associated with my neck and back but this came out of nowhere and has been bad for about three weeks. I never thought it might be Nasacort until I got up to go to work and sprayed it once in each nostril and then WHAM - vertigo hit like a freight train. I will stop using it immediately to see if it clears up. Also had a weird taste in my mouth and an upset tummy but I thought it was from the dizziness not from the nasal spray. Avoid this drug if you have any unusual side effects. It does keep allergies at bay but not worth it. F 61 4 months

2  sinus congestion, chronic Insomnia, light headache, anxiety, anger It cleared my nasal passages the first day and has greatly improved my breathing but I've also been having light headaches. The past two nights I have found it very difficult to fall asleep and woke up several times after I had managed to sleep. My anxiety has also increased and I've been having a difficult time controlling my anger. I have overreacted to things and lashed out. The first three days were fantastic besides the headache, but it seems prolonged usage is not an option for me. It seems to be exacerbating my underlying anxiety and mood disorders. F 28 6 days

1  Allergies Severe dizziness and vomiting after just two days. Almost headed to ER but realized it must be this medication. I have been off it for one day and feel slightly better. Still dizzy but not as nauseous . Not for me . F 45 2 days

1  Sinus congestion After a couple of days using, I had an experience of disequilibrium, feeling off balance. It passed but was scary. I had another episode the following day and went to the ER. Nothing significant was found, but I stopped using the medication for a few days. The next week I used it in the morning and had another episode. This time, I connected it definitively to the Nasacort. I have never used Nasacort since and have never had another episode. I have gone back to Flonase when I think I need a squirt of a steroidal nasal spray, but for the most part I find natural home treatments more effective than medications for sinus issues. I would never use Nasacort again. F 67 3 days

1  Post nasal drip Anxiety, detached feeling, insomnia I tried flonase, nasonex and both gave me horrible anxiety and detached feeling (like I'm not in reality) hoping Nasacort would work but the same thing... it is a pretty scary thing.. I guess I just can't take any steroid nasal spray. Too bad. F 55 2 days

1  mold allergies Stinging sinuses, SEVERE BURNING SENSATION ALL OVER, tachycardia (racing heart) and skyrocketing blood pressure. I made the terrible mistake of taking my very first dose of Nasacort at bedtime (one squirt per nostril). I'd wanted to sleep uncongested, and ClariSpray (fluticasone, same as Flonase) makes me very sleepy. I was a little surprised by the stinging effect of Nasacort in my nostrils, which I had not experienced with ClariSpray. However, the worst came about two hours after I'd gone to sleep - I woke up like MY WHOLE BODY WAS ON FIRE! AND MY EYES FELT SCALDED! It felt like I'd been dunked in sulfuric acid! My heart was racing and my blood pressure was soaring! I was fighting panic (how much of this was a natural reaction to this horrible awakening or worsened by the Nasacort, I don't know). But something kept telling me to squirt just one nostril with fluticasone (which I'm not so fond of for its own different side effects and wanted to switch to "something less potent" that I could wean off - was I ever wrong!) Within an hour, the burning skin and eyes were gone, and with the help of a xanax and an atenolol my BP and HR were back to normal. Feeling cool and calm again This Nasacort goes in the trash - for me, at least, it's pure poison. M 67 1 days

1  Clogged ear and allergic rhinitis Elevated blood pressure, anxiety, and panic attacks. I would never take this nasal steroid again. Ent gave me a sample in the office for my allergies. I normally have good blood pressure but after taking this steroid, my blood pressure elevated to 160/100. Blood pressure is now back down to normal, but my anxiety is at an all time high. Flonase never made me feel this way. I will definitely stick to that. F 30 2 days

1  Ear stopped up from cold Fatigue, migraine after one use Physician prescribed otc Nasacort for help with my stopped up ear/vertigo I acquired from a cold virus. A few hours after using had a weird fatigue come over me and the next day woke up with a migraine. I'm prone to headaches but through holistic help have greatly minimized them. Holistic practitioner said it was highly probable the Nasacort brought on the headache. I read up on side effects and yep, headaches can be a big issue for some using this product! I'm returning this horrible stuff to the store. F 47 1 days

5  allergies- seasonal, dust, mold none I have tons of outdoor and indoor allergies and this product has helped stop headaches and all sorts of negative allergy symptoms since I love being outdoors. I take just one spray daily from spring until fall and then discontinue after the first freeze. I take two sprays if my symptoms are worse and discontinue taking if I'm really sick and get prescribed other medication that works in a similar way or am taking lots of decongestant. If taken correctly- this product works great! F 28 2 years

3   Worked well to clear nasal passages and breathe through nose. However, starting and stopping 3 times over the 4 month period proved it was the cause of dizziness, mild headache and mild eye pain. Felt awful when on it better when off of it. Experiment, 2-3 days off if symptomatic lightheadednes or dizziness. Or odd headache M 52 4 months
