ZESTRIL  (LISINOPRIL):  Lisinopril is used to treat high blood pressure. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. It is also used to treat heart failure and to improve survival after a heart attack. Lisinopril belongs to a class of drugs known as ACE inhibitors.  5  HBP initial dry cough started taking 5mg once a day. Cough lasted the first 4 weeks then dissapeared as i was told would happen. No other problems noted. It controls my blood pressure well and with small dose. M 33 4 years

 3  aortic regurg Rash...pruritic truncal exanthem. Cutting to 1/4 dose makes it tolerable, but BP then not optimal. Cough...dry, brassy. Thought it was due to local allergens at first. Small amts of iron eliminated this (ck Hong Circulation) Am juggling the dosage again, but cannot sleep with the itch/burn rash of the prescribed amount (5 mg/QD) PS I am a retired physician, and have done reasonable research into the lisinopril/ACE inhibitor pharmacopaeia COUGH...seems to be the major reason for patient discontinuance...a small amout of Fe eliminated this problem for me...Fe did not help with the rash (which appears to be dose related, at least in my case) M 67 2 years
