This drug stays in your system the rest of your life!! Do not let your doc force you to take it no matter what!! It made my endometriosis worse, and after earning 2 college degrees, was only able to use them for a few years until I had to go on permanent disability for the rest of my life because of Lupron. I am currently in bed most of the time on 6 medications for pain and muscle twitching, so I rarely get outside or motivated to do anything. It's really horrible. Don't do it, your doc is only prescribing it because they get a bonus from the pharmaceutical company for each dose they prescribe!! | It's the worst drug ever. PSA at 69 pre surgery PSA was at 0.2 after surgery Went on Lupron and PSA is now <0.010, and holding at 0. Post Lupron Testosterone was at 27.78, starting to rise and is at 45.28. That's twice what they want. We are switching to a 4 month shot to try and relieve the side effects. There is concern about the rise in testosterone, however my PSA stays at <0.010. I've been on Calcium and VitD and brought my levels up. If it weren't for the side effects, I would recommend Lupron. However my Quality of Life sucks. My Urologist ask If I would consider an Orchiectomy rather than Lupron. After much study, I decided that that would be the best option for me. Fewer bad side effects, And Peace Of Mind about further return of the cancer, if Lupron stop working. Decided to try a 4 month shot and see how it goes. If I'm still feeling as lousy, I'm going to continue with the Bilateral Orchiectomy. Complete body CT Scan Dec. 2014, and that will tell us if there is any other soft tissue involvement. LUPRON (LEUPROLIDE ACETATE): Leuprolide is used to stop early puberty (precocious puberty) in children. It helps to delay sexual development (such as growth of the breasts/testicles) and the start of menstrual periods. It also helps slow down early bone growth to increase the likelihood of reaching normal adult height. Leuprolide works by decreasing the amount of sex hormones that a child's body makes (estrogen in girls, testosterone in boys).
