F 44 2 years

1  Replace light smoking / anxiety Mouth ulcers, dry skin- distinctly pallid and tired looking. Aerobic exercise feels far more difficult versus periods of abstinence from Nicolette (I am an avid runner and generally very fit, but feel worse than sluggish on nicotine). Dental problems, Nausea at high doses. Very addictive. F 30 4 years

4  Stop smoking Dry mouth, burping, heartburn Have read that there may be a connection to nicotine and acne, gum recession, increased blood pressure, canker sores and lower immunity to illness. Concerned that there’s a correlation between those symptoms and my body’s response. F 59 17 years

1  To quit smoking I have been using 2 sprays a time every hour for 2 years. Sometimes I have several sprays in an hour. I became addicted to it and now I can’t give it up. Even when I had to start paying for it myself (£28 a week!) I couldn’t stop. I have unexplained upper abdominal pain which is only relieved with liquid morphine, it is probably because of the spray usage and that I do end up swallowing a lot of the spray, but I still can’t stop it. DO NOT USE! I wish I had never quit in the first place, I’m more unhappy now that I’m addicted to NRT F 28 2 years

5   The gum worked. I was hooked for over 3 years. I developed panic attacks while driving my car a few months ago. I also developed cardiac arythmia. Dr prescribed low dose prozac. I do not recommend chewing the gum over 90 days! F 52 3 years

2  Quitting smoking I’m 11 days in to quitting smoking- I decided to try these 3 days ago because I haven’t been able to concentrate with my work since quitting. On the third day both of my shoulders broke out in a terrible rash, I experienced deep pains in the back of my tongue and my teeth- almost like they were loose and moving in my gums- my gums also burned like someone had poured acid on them. I also noticed heavier set wrinkles in my face and experienced sharp pains in my abdomen among other pains. While it did improve my concentration - it was total shot otherwise- probably better off smoking than using this product Sh*t M 31 3 days

1  To stop smoking Lost teeth, bone loss in jaw and no chance of implants, hair thinning, face rash and on forehead, badly receding hairline. Don't use any Nicorette products, in my opinion they should be taken off the market. Tried all of them and they all have bad side effects. M 45 3 years

1  quit smoking High blood pressure hair loss cracked teeth Doctors always assure me it’s not an issue, but I think this has contributed to some real health issues. There should be 1 mg and .5 mg available. I’m very suspicious of the motivations from the big corporations that supply this so called solution. Many smokers were exposed to second hand smoke as children when the dangers were blatantly hidden from the general public. Yet another travesty of the tobacco companies. F 61 18 years

1  Quit very light smoking I just realized that the problems I’ve been having may be linked to my silly addiction to Nicorette gum. I was a very rare smoker, but tried the gum when my husband had it around and loved the little kick it gave me. I got addicted to it . I’ve been cheeing it constantly for years- except a brief period when I quit. I recently developed mouth sores that lasted for weeks . I also have needed extensive dental work even though I take very good care of my teeth and see the dentist regularly. My hair is thinning and I have extremely dry skin and aching joints. I have problems sleeping . I don’t know if these are all related, but noticed that many other reviewers have the same problems. I will be quitting for sure. The moth sores are scary and I thought the dental problems were because I grind my teeth so badly. Maybe if I quit the Nicorette I won’t grind! I’d suggest only using this product for a short time. It is addictive. It’s expensive. It can harm your teeth and mouth. It can definitely help you quit smoking which is a great thing. F 54 8 years

3  so i would not return to smoking I am severely addicted to the quickmist, spraying 4 pumps each time 20 times a day. Experiencing brain fog, anohedia, sore mouth tissue, anxiety, heart palpitations and constant craving. It has been my choice not to use the medication as directed so i don't blame the company but more information on long term abuse would be useful. I am sure they have some scientific studies on this. I feel like it could be damaging my brain but the information that I find online is how nicotine is great for focus and attention.... F 48 3 years

5  quit smoking cigarettes. The only bad side effects I know are from the Nicorette gum are the mouth sores. I chewed 10-15 pieces a day for over 11 years. I became addicted. I stopped taking Nicorette about a week ago, I’m irritable, I cannot focus and I’m very constipated. I will get through this. I will not succumb to this addiction. You can quit Nicorette TODAY too!! Anxiety..fatigue..2 pulled teeth.. 2 need crowns very soon...joint, muscle & tendon/ ligament pain..frequent headaches...thinning hair.. cruddy skin..my body just feels heavy. yeah! I quit smoking. At 35 plus pieces a day and $180wk....feeling angered and frustrated Could'nt they make a 1mg and then a 0mg so we can ween ourselves..regular gum doesn't work nor does it taste the same. Guess they wouldn' t make $$$$$$$$$ if they did that!.Seriously? $72 for 100 pieces of gum at some major pharmacies! You got me but, I did quit smoking over 16 years ago! Thanks! WKC F 54 16 years

1  Quit smoking Hair thinning, upset stomach, fast heart rate, terrible depression when tried to quit It's better to stay away from the spray. More addictive than gums. Lost a lot of hair since 2 years while using the spray, had spots and scarring on face, not to mention redness and greasyness F 30 4 years

4  smoking cessation I can't pin any side effects on nicotine lozenges or gum except some gastric irritation, maybe some water retention. I'm not sure what the ingredients are exactly. Nicotine itself isn't really harmful. I'm glad I quit smoking, but I'm still addicted to nicotine. I think the ladies who are saying they have mouth pain, sore tongue, and hair loss likely are lacking something in their blood like iron, B12, or certain minerals. They should get a blood test.  4  To quit smoking (5 years ago) When used as directed, chew a little then stick between cheek and gum, I don't seem to have any side effects other than addiction. However, I floss daily and brush regularly so that probably has helped me avoid dental problems. My dentist seems very limited on whether this is safe or not but says to keep moving it around my mouth and not over use in one area. I do experience minor inflammation of my gums if don't rotate the gum to different areas of my mouth. No hair loss that i'm aware of though, after reading some comments, I find myself wondering if my skin is affected. What I thought was past years of over exposure to the sun may very well be worsened by my use of nicolette. I certainly didn't plan to use for 5 years but here I am addicted hoping to quit soon. My cardiologist and regular physician say it's much better than cigarettes which keeps me believing it's not dangerous - basically permission to go forth and chew! As an important note, I do not have any health condition I'm very thankful for nicorette, it helped me quit smoking over 5 years ago and eliminated over 800 poisons and toxins from cigarettes. In those 5 years of chewing I have NOT smoked over 32,000 cigarettes! But when trying through the years to read about Nicorette gum I found information very limited which made me suspicious. I am not even sure if it contains sugar substitutes or if there is sugar in there. Either way we lose. Some of the sugar substitutes can cause neurological problems... is that why I have a few issues with short term recall or forget a word every once in a while? It could be. F 53 5 years
