| 5 | Had panic attacks | Absolutely none | I have taken this medication for over 40 years. I had severe panic attacks that attacked at anytime. I began taking 3 mg. I had to give long presentations which unnerved me. 3 mg I could talk to any crowds. I dropped it down to 2 mg and take both in the morning. I have never had any complications. Very mild. It does not make me sleepy, I simply feel normal with no anxiety. Though sometimes it made me a bit lazy, most of the time I wanted to go out and do stuff and socialize. I did experience loss of appetite at first, but after a week or so that went away. Unlike xanax, I don't act or say stupid things, or fall asleep at parties (I don't party anymore anyway) And unlike Klonopin I can stay awake and it doesn't make me feel like a zombie. There were problems however, such as a tendency to steal little things I didn't really need. I stole a childrens book for my baby and a pair of socks from gamestop. This is VERY out of character for me. But the main reason I stopped was because I was building a tolerance pretty quickly. I would take up to 8 pills (4 mg) just to get the same feeling of calm and relief of social anxiety. It is less strong than most benzos, and I have always had a tendency to build a tolerance quickly. I was prescribed 60 a month and go through it in a matter of two weeks or less. My doctor offered to up the dosage to 1 mg, but I knew that wouldn't be enough so he switched me to Klonopin. I wish I took him up on his offer because now I can barely stay awake it is such a strong medication even if I take only half I still feel like a zombie ready to sleep at any moment. While still on this drug from the depths of hell, I had what turned out to be an unnecessary sigmoidoscopy and diagnostic mammogram because of the anal pain and breast tenderness that I can only attribute to Ativan. I have had lupus for ten years; but now I am finding out what true medical hell is withdrawing from a drug that the FDA states can be harder to kick than heroin after just two weeks of taking it. I'll never take another one of these horrific pills because I was so scared they were going to take my life. It is now 14 days later and I am still petrified.
