| 1 | Re | Extreme Severe Dystonic Muscle Reaction | I WOULD NEVER TAKE HALDOL EVER AGAIN!!!! At age 14, after 1 pill in morning, by 7PM I was in hospital with an extreme reaction to Haldol. Haldol forced pulling my head literaly to stick to my back, I could not pull head to upright/normal position. I was 14yrs old when it was prescribed for a traumatic dentle experience. {Dentist froze my throat, I started chocking as windpipe froze and couldn't get air.} So this Dentist reccomended to my GP Dr. that I take Haldol before returning to Dentist again "to relax" me. 2 wrongs here definatly DO NOT make it right - Freezing my throat, then recomending a medication that put me in the hospital. This experience has made me terrified to take any medication {since 14} for fear and trauma I went through as a direct result of Haldol. Should NEVER have been prescribed, look back now and both Dentist & GP should have been sued - I was in hospital for a whole week, then forced to see psychiatrist for 6 months, due to fact of being terrifie | F | 32 | 1 days | 1/27/2007 | 1 | FORCED | Given a 200 mg. Sinai Geriatric Ward in NYC and dosed with haldol-depacote-cogentin-klonopin combo. Klonopin normally take for REM Sleep Disorder. Combo kept me awake for 10 days, caused extreme hypo-BP; Submitted 72-hour letter, was extorted into retracting it by being threatened if I did not retract I could be kept 2-3 more months even tho, if I signed "you get out in 3 days." This was after 7 days of being kept awake, which was exacerabting a manic condition which occurs under stress or sleeple | discharge" dx "chronic paranoid chizophrenic". No mention of sleep disorder MCS, SEVERE akathesia resulted, FMS was exacerbated. HCV+;doc was APPALLED these LIVERDAMAGING DRUGS had been rxed. The Wealth Care Industry of NYC makes $$ off of persons whose TRUE CONDITIONS do not fit the DMSIV, so they concoct a dx. this was abusive unnecessary "treatment" for a condition I do not now nor ever have had. Denied a request for medical records form.One month after discontinuing ALL of the neuroleptics,am still hostile outraged, anorexic, and have been incredibly sick as I was detoxifying them .All psychiatrists should be forced to take it in the dosage they prescribe for their patients. Haldol should NEVER be given for something simple like insomnia. After reading many comments here, quite a few here have had dystonic reactions whether they knew it or not. It is a common and scary side effect. I also understand that this drug can permanently damage someone if taken long enough. Also, it does not induce the appetite. | F | 43 | 3 months | 5/18/2005 | 3 | tourette syndrome | first three yrs i was a zombie, and then i weaned off to respiridol. very bad experience with a blood pressure drop and extremely sick in the hospital for about a week. the second time around my tics got worse with the TS,so i needed something because i was in a lot of pain. i took haldol again and experienced acathesia, bad restlessness that is extremely indescribable. ive recently tried more drugs of its type- seroquel, respiridol, albilify, and a few others. i keep getting acathesia. also in case you wonder why they give this to patients with tourettes, they dont have any other meds made for TS yet, its still up in the air, seizure meds and antipsychotics are what they use and have for a long time used. | ask your doc a ton of questions. ask about tardive dyskinesia after long term usage of haldol. also you can expect a whole lot of sleepiness. i used to sleep on this med from 4 in the afternoon until the nxt day at lunch time. the second time around on haldol all i got was acathesia. so until something better comes i deal with the pain of my tics, and i have learned relaxing, reducing anxiety, and not overdoing it helps my tics. | F | 25 | 5 years | 4/12/2005 | 5 | delirium and hallucination | Although I felt very well, I felt as if I had absolutely nothing to talk about. When the coke started to hit me my toung was out of my mouth swinging back an forth all over the place and my eyes were rolling up so I said to him maby we could chill later cause I'm really not feeling good right now so he left. Later on that day my legs just felt shaky as hell and I felt like I needed to walk around. I know it wasn't the coke because it never did anything like that to me before.
