While the drug has helped, it is of no benefit if I can't function while on it. Due to the high infection risk, I would not recommend it for anyone with advanced AS that has a fused chest wall. Within 3 weeks of starting treatment, I developed a UTI, a yeast infection and a dental abscess that took over half of my face. Even with antibiotics I couldn't barely fight any illness I developed. I never had this problem with other biologics. I already suffer from joint pain and fatigue from spinal stenosis and fibromyalgia but I felt 10x worse for a week after injection. Had a persistent runny nose, but that was tolerable. I was also constantly itchy and while it kept my psoriasis from getting out of hand, I never achieved fully clear skin on my arms or legs like with other biologics. I also noticed changes in my vision, where in the last 6 months my glasses are suddenly much less effective in correcting my vision. The only other time I've experienced that was with Plaquenil, in which it's an expected side effect. Doctor just took me off this and is trying Otezla next.
