3  Spinal disc degeneration Constipation, dry-mouth. Back in 2007, I would have given this medication a rating of 5. It relieved the chronic, acute pain in my lower back and neck to the point I felt no discomfort. However, in 2009, the pharmaceutical companies that produce the name brand and generic versions, changed the formula and more than doubled the price, this because of individuals who used it as a street drug. Thus, the people who really need this medication for pain management must now suffer physically and monetarily. I'd say that the drug works less than a third what it used to. Where money is concerned, sixty tablets used to cost me about $380; that same quantity now costs around $780. The price per pill has risen from $6.33 each to $13.00 apiece. If that isn't misappropriation by the drug companies, I don't know what is. Because of the lower effectiveness of Oxycontin to treat pain, and that there is no other medication of its type that is any better, I need to use five tablets of Norco 10/325 daily as an adjunct. Even with this combination of meds, I still have nowhere near the relief I once had. M 52 4 years

1  Spinal disc degeneration Update 5/24/2012: I changed the rating for this medication to 1, as I now need to use 8 Norco 10/325 MG per day for pain. I also use Kenalog-40, which helps with the inflammation caused by the damage to my spine. Oxycontin used to work great, but when the formula was changed, it effectively became useless, along with being extremely expensive. M 53 4 years
