| 5 | Trigeminal Neuralgia | Tiredness, short term memory loss, vertigo, blurred & double vision, lack of concentration, speech difficulties & loss of words, numbness, joint pain, swelling & tingling of hands, purple spots on skin, calcium deposits in aorta (Vit K depleted), low white blood cell count | Amazingly, after all the bad side effects from this medication, I can admit being without it would be tragic. I have been questioned over the years if it helps and I would & still respond that I couldn't live without it. I now take the Tegretol XR along with Lyrica. This was due to being hospitalized from the level the regular Tegretol being toxic in my body. When in so much severe pain I would take additional doses because it was not helping. Now, with the extended relief Tegretol & the Lyrica, it has evened out and had more relief. I am not pain free but I could never find an alternative which helped like the Tegretol. The initial side effects such as the drowsiness, etc passed within the first few years.
