The Flomax is for short-term relief of urine retention, and the Avodart is for longer-term goal of reducing prostate size. Started Flomax first, and it seemed to be enabling me to empty my bladder better. Noticed very strong erections, which was great. That then subsided after a few days, and my erection is back to normal or maybe reduced. Viagra solves any erection problem without lowering my blood pressure too much.Whether it's Flomax, Avodart, or both, my orgasm has changed. For the first 2-4 muscle contractions of my orgasm that would have normally produced semen, I usually remain dry since taking Flomax.Then the semen begins to flow - maybe squirting a little, but the volume is definitelyreduced.I attribute this to some retrograde ejaculation.My ejaculations are small and dribbly, rather than shooting. The semen tends to be less cloudy white and more clear sometimes.Maybe that's aging, tho. My orgasms still feel great (I enjoy sex both with my wife and by masturbating), but if I'm watching, the reduced flow is a bit of disappointment. Since reducing the dosage of the Flomax this way, I still benefit from a better ability to empty my bladder. As to the side effect of dry or reduced ejaculation amounts, I now ejaculate a normal amount, although it flows more than spurts. Another change is that after taking the flomax (about 4-10 hours), my erections tend to be very strong - almost like with Viagra. And my nocturnal erections are much more active. Usually getting up and urinating makes the erection subside, but if not, masturbation takes care of it. All in all, I would say that if you take an ACE inhibitor like lisinopril and need Flomax for BPH, try alternating them.
