Vicodin was my only relief after I had my tonsils and adenoids taken out at the age of 24, but like a lot of people, I liked it too much. This began an opiate addiction that lasted for almost 9 months. I'm finally off them, but I wouldn't say that people shouldn't take Vicodin because you can get addicted. Just make sure you are making good choices and have a doctor that it monitoring you properly. It doesn't matter how amazing Vicodin makes you feel, it's not worth the 30 minutes of euphoria to completely ruin your life like I did. VICODIN ES (ACETAMINOPHEN; HYDROCODONE BITARTRATE): This combination medication is used to relieve moderate to severe pain. It contains an opioid (narcotic) pain reliever (hydrocodone) and a non-opioid pain reliever (acetaminophen). Hydrocodone works in the brain to change how your body feels and responds to pain. Acetaminophen can also reduce a fever. This product is not recommended for use in children younger than 6 years due to an increased risk of serious side effects (such as slow/shallow breathing).
