| 4 | pain | none what so ever | F | 61 | 100 4X D | 9/4/2011 | 3 | Headaches | Takes a long time to be effective . | Woks for mild pain but did nothing for a headache. Had a slight out of body feel when taken? Also I had a failed job drug test while taking this. | F | 37 | 30 1X D | 2/25/2012 | 1 | Pain after Kidney Stone surgery. | One pill worsened Cervical Dystonia. I also had severe bloating in my stomach and some stomach pain. Because of this, I could not sleep most of the night. I only took it one time. | After stopping Tramadol, the side effects went away. I never took it again. | M | 51 | 1 days 50 MG. 1X D | 10/15/2013 | 1 | Nerve pain | Nothing | F | 22 | 1 days 150 MG | 2/26/2016 | 4 | Fibromyalgia Pain | A little nausea if I don't eat something when I take it. Insomnia, slight itching. | I only take 1/2 pill at a time, usually twice a day (morning and afternoon) because of the sleeplessness it causes. It makes me very sleepy, but when I try to sleep I wake every few minutes. Like all other opiates I have taken, this one makes me groggy and itchy but I can't sleep if I take it close to bedtime. It definitely helps with the pain, so I can function. | F | 43 | 4 days 50 mg 3X D | 1/15/2012 | 1 | Headache eye pain | It took my pain away, problem is that it made suicidal. | While on 72 hour hold, I was told that I am in a 1.3% group of people that has that type of reaction to the med. No alert for that reaction. | M | 46 | 7 days 50 mg 4X D | 5/3/2013 | 4 | Osteoarthritis | Nothing negative all good. | I am pain free now and can walk almost normally. Such a relief, but the withdrawl side-effects I read about do concern me. | F | 65 | 10 days 50 2X D | 3/23/2012 | 1 | post-op pain relief | Panic attacks; severe anxiety; very emotional - I felt like I needed psychiatric help. | I would never use this drug again and never recommend it - its analgesic properties are not worth the mental stress. Doctors should warn patients of the side effects. | F | 47 | 12 days 100 mg 4X D | 5/17/2010 | 1 | Extremely bad lightheaded, dizziness. Increased Neuropathy hands and feet. | Blood Pressure only decreased slightly. Now after two weeks of not taking the drug, starting to feel better. Neuropathy is decreasing but still have bouts of dizziness. Taking 1/4 doses to wean off the drug as otherwise got heart pallipations and was a little harder to breathe. | M | 57 | 30 days 2X D | 3/10/2014 | 4 | recovery cervical disc fusion | Yep, been on this drug for over a year as twice post surgery. It takes the edge off yet doesn't fully relieve the pain but would not be able to work without it. Easier on stomach than Norco | concerned about becoming dependent after seeing other posts here | M | 48 | 356 days 50 mg 1X D | 5/5/2011 | 2 | No side effects it's just that the Tramadol is not touching the pain in my shoulder whatsoever I get shooting pains down from my shoulder to my elbow I will be getting an MRI and a CT scan real soon but in the meantime the pain is unbearable I have had ruin y gastric bypass surgery so there are some medicines I cannot take but what kind of a pain medication can I please take? | F | 63 | 2 weeks 50mg | 7/9/2017 | 1 | spinal stenosis | insomnia | This drug did nothing for me. When I heard about the side effects, I threw the pills away. | M | 66 | 2 weeks 50MG 6X D | 5/4/2013 | 1 | pain for knee injury | None until the day I didn't take it.. then, bothersome anxiety, shaky, wierd audio hallucinations at night. | Worked great for pain but Dr. never mentioned it can be addictive! Should have done my homework like I usually do. I was shocked to have withdrawal symptoms the first day I skipped the med. Started to wean off it...... when taking only 1/2 to 1 a day instead of 2-3, had twitches/jerking in arms and legs when at rest. Stopped altogether now. Tho excellent for pain would not take again due to addictive quality and unnerving anxiety trying to stop the drug. My Dr. was surprised at my report, says many pts. are fine on it. Wonder if they've tried to stop it???? | F | 58 | 5 weeks 50 mg 3X D | 1/14/2012 | 1 | Post shoulder operation | Okay as long as I kept up dosage. Worked fine for controlling the pain but…. | I only ever took these Tramadol tablets as prescribed for post operative pain so according to the manufacturers web site, I’m not addicted. To be classified as addicted you must be abusing the tablets. Things were fine until I stopped after 6 weeks. I had not been warned about the potential withdrawal effects which included sensory sensitivity, itching, hyper anxiety, extreme insomnia, panic etc. I started taking the Tramadol again and this time reduced over 2 weeks, as soon as I stopped completely, all the withdrawal affects described above came back. It is now 2 weeks since my last tablet and I’m still suffering from insomnia and anxiety, I’m not able to deal with more than one question at a time otherwise I panic. I am a professional person with a responsible job but currently unable to work. I really wish the drug company and the doctors warned patients about the potential problems of coming off of these tablets, it would have been easier to suffer the post op pain, at least you know where you are with that. | M | 55 | 6 weeks 100mg 4X D | 1/19/2011 | 5 | Tib/fib break and severe hip pain | Mild insomnia for about a week after stopping the medication. I stopped abruptly but my Doctor said I should have gradually reduced the dosage. | I found Tramadol excellent in dealing with the extreme pain that I had after my accident. By contrast Dihydrocodeine wasn't nearly as good and it also left me tired and constipated. Tramadol was side effect free.(except for the mild insomnia on stopping abruptly) | M | 42 | 3 months 100mg 3X D | 9/26/2013 | 1 | Arthritis | It was not a very effective pain reliever and went through terrible withdrawal when I stopped. Seven days of agony, insomnia, anxiety attacks, restless legs, unable to eat, dehydration, nausea, chills. I would NEVER recommend anyone take this drug! Should be stopped under the supervision of a physician! Still cannot tolerate perfumes or odors after six weeks. | F | 69 | 4 months 100 mg 3X D | 3/3/2012 | 5 | arthritis | a little dizziness for the first hour after taking | Tramadol has been a lifesaver as the NSAIDS I was taking caused serious gastritis and Tylenol is very sedating. | F | 60 | 6 months 100MG 1X AN | 7/14/2011 | 5 | post AAA surgery leg pain | None | M | 64 | 6 months 50 MG 1X D | 8/7/2011 | 1 | For severe, lower back pain | I have severe osteoarthritis in my lower spine with facet joint narrowing and some compression injury. For pain, as I cannot be operated on as yet, Dr's prescribed 50mg's Tramadol to be taken 2 to 3 times daily. Initially it *did* help for the pain and it lifted my mood too. But in time I came up with a whole lot of other serious conditions. I started to have severe heart palpitations. Was put onto Sota-Hexal to cope with those! Then started to walk as if I am 100 years old. Extremely stiff, painful legs from the soles of my feet to my groin area. This stiffness also moved to my arms, neck and shoulders.Dr's said this could not be due to the meds. I started with gradual restless-leg-syndrome to where it became chronic. I just could not understand why I was feeling SO ill! When my leg stiffness became so bad that I could no longer climb stairs and had difficulty even climbing into the bath or shower cubicle - I finally researched Tramadol on the internet and discovered how so many o | I have been off Tramadol for a few weeks now and have managed to get myself back down to only 40 mg's of Sota-Hexal for the palpitations. I am sure those will disappear too as they only started a short while after I had gone onto Tramadol. The restless-leg-syndrome is not gone yet but it is not quite as chronic as it was for a couple of months. I can gradually feel the life coming back into my stiff limbs. This has been a *horrific* medication for me and i am very angry that no Dr ever warned me about the risk side-effects nor took notice when I complained about symptoms I had never experienced before. Perhaps my brain and Central Nervous System is more sensitive than that of most people but I would warn anyone to think very carefully about the risks you face when you decide to start taking this med. | F | 57 | 6 months 50mg 3X D | 6/25/2014 | 5 | Chronic Pain | I felt utterly 'high' and very sick after the first few doses, but my body soon adjusted to it. I find it causes insomnia if taken in the evening. Can be rough on the tummy. | This has been a wonder drug for me. The only medication that has ever completely taken away my pain and enabled me to carry on with 'normal' working daily life. If used with caution, it can literally change the quality of life of pain sufferers. However, as it is now a controlled drug, and GP's will no longer prescribe it long term, I am being taken off it. Attempting to wean your brain & central nervous system off the drug is not pleasant in my experience. However, I understand some people have no problems at all. I stopped after initially trialing it for 1 month and had restless legs for 2 nights and that was that. After the past 9 months, cutting down from 200mg to 50mg has left me constantly waking at night, and feeling restless legs during sleep, as well as general flailing about the bed due to nerve twitching. Apparently this passes after a week or so!! Excellent relief when nsaids, codeines etc do not touch your pain, but do not take daily as you will only have to go through withdrawal in the future. | F | 36 | 10 months 100mg 2X D | 7/12/2016 | 5 | leg muscle pain and weakness | none | I have permanent leg muscle pain and weakness due to cholesterol medication that I was taking for 16 months. Now I have to take pain medication every day for the rest of my life! Tramadol works great (fortunately) and really helps me with my muscle pain. My quality of life would be very bad if it wasn't for this medication. | F | 52 | 12 months 100 mg 3X D | 8/9/2011 | 4 | Back pain | Headache, lots of energy, weight loss | This drug works great for pain but I would not take it again ever. The withdrawal systmtoms are a complete nightmare! Whether you're tapering or going cold turkey you will be in a world of hell for a few weeks. Withdrawals include RLS, sever depression, sever insomnia, cold sweats, diarrhea, after days and days of no sleep I started to hear and see things that were not there. All that plus intense joint pain. It is not a good situation at all. Please beware when taking this medication. I have read stories from people who have experienced terrible withdrawal systmtoms after taking this medication for only a few weeks. | F | 32 | 12 months 50 4X D | 10/12/2012 | 5 | Chronic pain from Lupus and FM | Constipation, and in the beginning overall itchiness which is pretty much gone | Tramadol is a life saver for me. I would wake up every early morning in severe pain, and it took hours before I could get moving. Now I take 150 mg at 4:00 am, go back to sleep, and wake up around 7:30 - 8:00 am, ready to start the day. I am so thankful for this medication. I know it doesn't work for everyone, but for me it has been a miracle medication. | F | 43 | 1 years 150 mg 1X D | 8/23/2014 | 5 | Adrenomyeloneuropathy- pain | Itching mild at times | This is the only pain medicine that helps my chronic pain. I take 1/2 tab once or twice a day most days of the week, then try to take a few days off to prevent tolerance. I hate having to take medicine but without it, my quality of life stinks. A nice Bonus is that it helps with my chronic low grade depression. My mood and energy improve to "normal". No dizziness or "high" from this med which I like. I can function well and enjoy life again. | F | 39 | 1 years 10 mg/day | 12/2/2014 | 5 | Menstrual Cramps | Itching! Hazy, drugged (but NOT dizzy) feeling. Sometimes sleepy, sometimes insomnia. Figure that one out. | I get horrible painful cramps that cause vomiting and other fun symptoms every month. My doctor prescribed Tramadol, and it's pretty awesome for me. Ibuprofin just makes me vomit and other OTCs don't even touch the pain even if I up the dosage. I didn't want to go all the way to vicodin because it makes me SO dizzy it's hard to walk straight which doesn't help the nausea. So I do tramadol, which brings the pain down to a manageable level, which helps (a little) with the nausea. Hazy makes me unwilling to drive while taking it, but nausea makes me unwilling to go anywhere while I need it, so not a big deal. Most of the time I get the sleepies which is actually GREAT, because I can sometimes sleep through the pain. And I don't get an intense itching, just a very mild, persistent allover itch which I will gladly trade for the horrible pain. I was actually totally unaware that tramadol had issues with addiction/withdrawal until reading other people's comments. I only need the tramadol for the first day, so I only take one or two pills every month and have no issues at all with that. The hazy and itching only last as long as the pill does. | F | 27 | 1 years 50 MG 1X M | 5/17/2011 | 5 | Restless Leg Syndrome | None | Have not had RLS in a year while taking 1 50MG per day. I take one at night time only. It does elevate your mood by making you more relaxed. Highly recommended this drug for RLS. It may have the capability of being addictive but I have not felt it yet. I have missed doses and have had no issues. | M | 32 | 1 years 50 MG | 7/12/2016 | 5 | Broken foot, hip arthritis | Constipation | It is fairly mild as a pain killer, when I broke my foot I was prescribed 200 mg/day total and it was still painful, however I can't take NSAIDs or codeine so this with tylenol seems to work well. Now I take 50 mg twice a day for arthritis pain, no side effects. Never felt euphoric on it so I don't know why would anyone abuse it. | F | 40 | 1 years 100 mg 1X D | 7/10/2017 | 4 | Fibromyalgia | Insomnia, loss of appetite, weight loss. Increase in energy. | I took this medication in addition to Vicodin (which also causes me insomnia). It doesn't do a lot for pain, but it gives me that boost of energy I need in the morning. I usually take 1 1/2 tablets in the morning (5-6 a.m.). I am able to nap if needed by 2:00 p.m. If I take it any later than 3 in the afternoon, I cannot sleep at night at least not before 12 or 1. | F | 43 | 1 years 50 mg 2X D | 4/20/2013 | 5 | Back pain | Itching, if I don't take it I get very sluggish, groggy, and my muscles ache. Great med for back pain. I only take a low dose 50mg and it gives me so much relief from pain that side effects are worth it. I am a NP and would recommend it for my patients. | F | 34 | 2 years 50 mg | 10/5/2012 | 5 | chronic pain, nerve damage, arthritis | Some itching when I take it too often. | This has been a wonderful relief to my chronic pain. Usually I only need to take a half tablet 2 or 3 times a day to be able to function in my job and daily routine and lead a fairly normal life. When pain is severe I will take a whole tablet which may bring on a little strange itching, but the relief is well worth it. | F | 58 | 2 years 50 2X D | 11/16/2013 | 5 | Pinched nerve discs degrading. | None. Does what it says it does helps pain lol. | I still have some pain, but if I miss a dose I know about it as my back is in agony. Didn't want to get addicted, but spinal expert said if I was in pain without it then I wouldn't get addicted. As when I first started taking it I was only taking when I was in extreme pain. I can go without it just really hurts to do so. I've never overdoses and never will. Any who still experience pain while on it do not let your doctor give you lyrica. It's poison. | F | 27 | 2 years Max dose | 5/29/2017 | 4 | broken coccyx / lumbar nerve damage | I'd broken my coccyx and had tried cortisol injections, naproxen and co-dydramol which all only work semi-well on a short term basis. I was in severe pain, in tears and could not sleep. This was a blessing to start. I started at 50mg twice a day, then leading upto three times a day. The only side effect at the time being heavy eyelids. But after nearly two years of taking them, to have the same level of effective pain relief (doesn't take it away, but is manageable) i now need to take 200mg in the morning. I fond this lasts untill early evening, when i take another 200mg before an early night. I must say over time, it had left me feeling groggy and grubby. It is hard to tell if this is fatigue from my disorder, or a side effect. Either way, i find very effective at keep the extreme discomfort at bay and lead a mobile life. I do notice the pain hots like a wall when drug has run out. Must be doing something right. Though i would prefer not to have to take it for too long. | F | 28 | 2 years 200mg | 3/27/2014 | 1 | fibromyalgia | Worked well for pain but found that I would get irritable and depressed when it started to wear off. Withdrawal was horrible! I couldn't sleep, had depression, anxiety and restless legs. I would not recorecommend this medication to anyone! | F | 48 | 2 years | 3/8/2015 | 1 | Endometriosis | Horrible time sleeping and trying to stop this medication is beyond horrible!! The withdrawels are so bad that I had to continue taking and taper myself down and even doing this was a struggle!! | Yes this drug does help the pain but the withdrawals are beyond insane! I have taken many diffrent narcotics and though this one is suppose to be non addicting it's the complete opposite! | F | 36 | 2 years 50 4X D | 12/9/2011 | 1 | ankylosing spondylitis | extreme. disgraceful withdrawals....can stop taking it....otherwise thrashing in bed, insomnia, anxiety, loss of energy, agitation, constant yawning yet can't sleep...totally ruined my life...tried to stop ....can't deal with the withdrawals...sensitive to noise......worse drug ever made.. | started on 150 mg per day then went up to 200mg a day then back to 150 then 100 now 50 mg....cannot get off the stuff...horrible drug....works good for intense flare ups of my ankylosing spondylitus but i would never have started taking the stuff i knew the cronic side effects...i;ll have to keep taking it for the rest of my life because i can't deal with the withdrawal symptoms at all...i'd rather die......oh yeah constant urinating is another side effect of stopping. | M | 35 | 2 years 50mg 2X D | 5/19/2012 | 5 | Arthritis & fibro myalgia | None. Tramadol has changed my life. I've had a hip replacement & fibro myalgia is debilitating. I work 4 days a week as a high school teacher - which might be more than I am capable of, if it weren't for tramadol. I came off Tramadol for 2 weeks without withdrawal symptoms earlier this year before having an operation for carpel tunnel syndrome. | F | 60 | 3 years 150 | 1/6/2015 | 5 | neuropathy, depression & ra arthriti | At first headache and felt some nausea.. but passes. It gives me energy and desire to do things. Helps with depression instantly. | Hard to quit because of withdrawal….have to taper off. If taking over a long period of time may have to increase dosage to get the same results or use with another prescribed drug by your dr. | F | 59 | 3 years 100 mg | 2/27/2016 | 4 | upper back pain and pain in general | Great at first 3 50mg daily for 3 years but then i had enough coming off is very difficult started by going to 3 x 25 mg daily for about 3 months and finally 50 mg a day for a couple of weeks but i would never had gone on it for so long had i known how hard the withdrawals would be. | M | 45 | 3 years 150 mg | 1/18/2014 | 2 | Backpain | Headaches and energy. | Does not touch my pain and then I get a headach when I take it only thing I use it for is the energy to do things when I have to which h is rarely. Not worth the headache | F | 47 | 3 years 50mg | 12/20/2016 | 5 | neuralgia | When I have gotten off of it for some periods, I did have some diarrhea for a couple of days that went away. | I take amitriptyline and tramadol for nerve pain and other fibromyalgia pains. It has been very effective for dulling pains that are otherwise disabling. I really do not notice any side effects other than it makes doing things seem possible, where the pain before medicating absolutely prevented me from thinking about anything else. | M | 55 | 4 years 50 MG 3X D | 5/3/2013 | 1 | Post Inguinal Hernia complications | *PLEASE READ* (All side effects (withdrawals) listed are 2 months after tapering off medication. (While on Tramadol my pain was much alleviated and my mood/happiness was lifted greatly..but then things changed.) *RLS *Insomnia *Nausea *Muscle & Bones Ache *DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, Dissociative Disorder *Hopeless state of being, ETC. | As said, after the mesh plate that was used to patch up my hernia started to cause problems, specifically nerve entrapment, I was put on Tramadol. My dose was increased to 400 MG and for the first 3 years it was the best medication I had ever used to alleviate the pain. I also found that Tramadol made me a happier, more energetic person. I have read it has been used to treat depression in some cases. I found this to be true. I started loving this medication more for how it made me feel, rather than how it controlled my chronic pain. Fast forward to now: After 3 years and 7 months of taking this medication, I made the decision that I needed to tell my Doctor I needed off of this medication. Simply put, I was taking it for the wrong reasons. I was semi-gradually weaned off of this medication (2 month process) and have been Tramadol free for almost 2 months. As many have mentioned, I promise you that for me, this withdrawal experience has been a absolute hell on earth. The first 2 weeks were mostly physical withdrawals. Believe it or not, but although I was sicker then I have ever been in my life, my decision to quit this med was my motivating factor that pushed me through the first couple weeks of intense, horrific physical withdrawals. However, 2 months later, I am still barely holding on. The mental withdrawals have not eased at all. Although I am still dealing with slight insomnia, restless leg and nausea, depression, severe anxiety, panic attacks and a general attitude | M | 31 | 4 years 50 MG 8X D | 12/15/2014 | 5 | Degenerative Disc Disease | Energy boost | Taking this for degenerative disc disease in my lower back in L1 and L2. Two 50mg pills in the morn and again late at night. Helps get rid of stiffness in my back and hips, allows me to walk and move much better and function during the day. Gives me an energy boost too for some reason. It can be addictive if you stop taking it suddenly, you will have withdrawals, taper down slowly if you must. For me I take it everyday or else I have trouble sitting and walking and doing normal things during the day, it helps me a lot. | F | 41 | 5 years 100 mg 2X D | 5/19/2015 | 5 | Fibromyalgia, ADD, Depression | Trouble sleeping if taken too close to bedtime. | I LOVE TRAMADOL, its my WONDER DRUG. I had been on Ritalin and all sorts of anti depressants but when I started taking Tramadol I was able to drop everything and stick with one drug to do it all. My fibromyalgia takes the best out of me. I hurt everywhere, I'm constantly cold and I walk around like an old lady with arthritis (im 36) I usually wake up dragging and in pain but within 30 minutes of taking my Tramadol I feel upbeat happy and ready to conquer the world. I notice that when I miss a dose I start feeling depressed but unlike the other antidepressants I have tried, I don't have to wait days for my tramadol to build up before it takes effect. My tramadol was prescribed for my Fibromyalgia pain but had done soooo much more for me. It has given me a new outlook on life. I can focus on my daily duties, I have stopped yelling at my son and have stopped crying for no reason at all. I think the FDA should approve tramadol for depression because IT WORKS, unfortunately not for everyone but for many! | F | 36 | 5 years 100MG 3X D | 4/4/2011 | 4 | Extremely nervous if I miss a dose | I usually take 1/2 pill 2 times a day and 1 whole pill at bedtime for osteoarthritis | F | 73 | 5 years 50 mg 3X D | 7/14/2012 | 1 | Arthritis & degenerative discs | This med destroyed my life! Extreme depression, anxiety, no motivation to even leave the house. After 5 yrs it no longer works & I now have to try to wean down to try to get my life back. Haven't been able to get below 7 a day. This drug is the devil | If I could've I'd have taken NSAIDs but can't due to gastric bypass surgery. My advice is look at all that's written about this horrible drug & try anything else! I wish I had | F | 55 | 5 years 8-12 a day | 3/9/2016 | 3 | chronic pain/headaches | no side effects | it works great for pain that is not "severe"; however it is pure HELL to get off of! I have gotten off of other opiates (hydrocodone, codeine) MUCH easier than getting off this drug. It changes all brain chemistry. If you ever want to get off, you'll need to wean off VERY gradually or you will have terrible withdrawals!! Do not start this drug if you can help it. Use hydrocodone instead - it is much easier to withdraw from. | F | 54 | 12 years 50 mg 4X D | 2/12/2012 |
