But I had no choice. I'd already been on amoxicillin for 7 days for a dental abscess and had to try clindamycin. Let me say I have EXTREME anxiety and HATE taking anything. So I was nervous. Anyway I had read some people said drink LOTS of water with it and take a probiotic, so I did. I drank 30oz with every dose (3 times a day) and took a probiotic halfway between doses 2 and 3. I also sipped water throughout the day (no juice, coffee, soda etc. I had almost ZERO side effects. I did notice for about an hour after each dose, I felt a little dizzy/out of it. Nothing major (could have just been my anxiety too). I also did use the bathroom more often, but honestly with my level of anxiety I was not surprised. That was it. And it cleared up my infection totally! I will continue the probiotics and lots of water at least for a month to be sure. But this stuff works. Don't let the reviews scare you. I have taken doxycycline too in the past, and some one else said it, but it made me feel the same as clindamycin. Excited, nervous, anxious, like I don't know what to do. I thought I was the only because I asked the pharmacy and a nurse and told them about a previous experience w/ the doxy. They told me there was no side effects like that w/ clindamycin, but after about 4 1/2 days it's not good. I feel like I'm supposed to finish it, but want to go back to being normal. It's killing germs and infection so of course it is strong. I'm allergic, deadly allergic, to any type of penicillin. It had always worked great, and was cheap, but if I took it now I could die. I'll be honest, I was absolutely TERRIFIED to take this drug after reading the horrific reviews on this site and many others. Took 4 pills a day 300mg for 1 week with absolutely no issues. Worst I experienced was a foul taste in my mouth and mild heartburn when I forgot to eat my yogurt and drink sufficient water for that day. Ate before each pill and took at least 2 small cups of yogurt each day and before dosage. Infection cleared up pretty well and has faded from the rich purple color it was from before taking the medicine. Don't be fooled by the negative reviews on this drug, just make sure to drink with a FULL glass of water and have something in your stomach before taking the pill. Also, be sure to wait at least 30 min to an hour before lying down after taking the pill to avoid heartburn. CLINDAMYCIN HCL (CLINDAMYCIN HYDROCHLORIDE): Clindamycin is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It is an antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for virus infections (such as common cold, flu).
