Then I had a feeling of impending doom come over me and became totally anxious. I had nothing to feel doom or anxiety about. It took a long time for me to finally fall asleep and then I did not sleep well. The next morning I took my next dose and my heart continued to race, I still felt anxious and impending doom. I called my pharmacy who said anxiety can be a side effect. I've been on Amoxi before with no problem; but I don't believe this high of a dose. They told me to call my doctor and to not take my next dose. My doctor prescribed me another antibiotic and I can say that my heart racing is starting to slow down now. It's been about 16 hours since I took my last Amoxi pill. I have no idea why suddenly it had this effect on me; but I will never take it again. Can't wait to be finished with the treatment. | F | 56 | 0 days | 4/11/2018 | 2 | I was given amoxicillin do to an infection that occurred under one of the roots of a molar which had a root canal 12 years ago, after the root was recleaned I was told to take 500mg three times a day for five days, I was given the amoxicillin by the dentist in a small white envelope, no warnings or drug info. I am sensitive to drugs that effect the CNS. The first day was doable, I did notice feeling foggy and strange after the 3rd pill, the second day I took the morning dose and felt ok, when I took the next dose the effects were stronger, fog, lightheaded, off balance, feeling a pressure and slight heat on face, anxious like gripping off the side of a cliff, agitated. The tooth pain had decreased about 75% at that point and I strongly felt if I continued on with this drugs things would get worse, so I stoped taking it; I would rather pull the tooth then get sick on this drug. It took about 24 hours after stopping to clear the fog, this was after 5 pills in 1.5 days. The fog lifted with a snap and I felt normal again. | Trust your body and be clear on side effects before taking. Today I've continued with amoxci woke up drenched from sweat but no real bad pain unless i touch tennis ball on outside of face. I've had over the top sweats hot and cold feel like I'm down with full blowen flu have headache muscle and tummy aches and look terrible. I've lost my appetite and just generally feel horrible tooth aches gone on inside but didn't expect it to bring on flu like symptoms. Does anybody know why its made me feel like this? AMOXICILLIN (AMOXICILLIN): Amoxicillin is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. This medication is a penicillin-type antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Using any antibiotic when it is not needed can cause it to not work for future infections. Amoxicillin is also used with other medications to treat stomach/intestinal ulcers caused by the bacteria H. pylori and to prevent the ulcers from returning.
