I did take some Andrew's powder(antacid) a few times even though it said you should not combine antacid with erythromycin. It helped a lot for the first two days. I staggered the doses of 250mg by half an hour rather than take two at once every 4 hours, which seemed sensible considering the side effects. Thankfully, this drug worked well for me. I was initially put on amoxicillin but I was found to be allergic to it.....it brought me out in a sore red rash on the inner thighs, groin and buttocks. My advice(ive taken it for over 7 years, long term and short term) 1. Drink loads of water with each tablet(s) you take 2. Eat so you have something in your stomach(even if you cant be bothered) 3. If the high dosage makes you feel terrible, reduce it slightly 4. Your body WILL get used to it, initially you will feel terrible. I used it previously for a sinus, chest and ear infection...within two days the infection was clearing, erythromycin is fantastic for acne and getting rid of infections but theyres the side effects. Its worth just battling through it...you should feel better by day 3/4. If you are on it, i would suggest taking it easy and drinking plenty, such as teas, water, juice etc. At night always have a bucket at the ready as it does make you vomit quite badly...i was puking up bile. I find i can cope with 5 tablets of 250mg per day...no more than that. If you need to lower it, speak to your doctor though.
