I really don't consider that bad. | It is the only thing that has worked for me. I have many food intolerances. I would wake up in the morning very, very depressed but I found out that if I took a Benadryl, it cleared up. So, I started investigating brain allergies, and found out the symptoms and that is how I found out what I could not eat after many years of fighting depression. Side effects listed here such as drowsiness and difficulty moving are symptoms I have seen as a hangover from my allergies with or without the benadryl. I have used Benadryl off and on for over 50 years now. No other medicine is as effective on my "Hay Fever, hives and asthma. It has helped make life bearable with allergies which would keep me isolated indoors all summer, and drive me outside everytime I encountered a perfume. I would originally only take it when having bad reactions but have settled in to taking it twice a day and more often if having a bad attack. There is only one symptom I have seen. I do have hypertension which needs medical treatment but doctors have never attributed it to the benadryl. However I do show much worse elevation in pressure during allergic reactions. Although doctors say benadryl has no effect on asthma: For the last 15 years or so years I have never had an bad attach which required emergency treatment unless I am enclosed with a large source of mold spores for a long time for the most I am sure the benadryl is helping me keep milder attacks away. | F | 53 | 40 years 50 mg 2X day | 9/1/2016 | 4 | for occasional allergies | THIS DRUG CAN CAUSE ME TO FEEL LIKE I CAN LOOSE CONTROL OVER MY ANGER- I was literally scared while on it because my reactions to things were just over the top, when they are normally not. It has controlled my autoimmune hives and worked for tongue pain/swelling. In doing some online research on Benadryl, I've found that it's a mild SSRI (current SSRI antidepressants were based on it) and it also blocks acetylcholine in the body, which may explain why it's helped with some digestive problems. Generally, I am hypersensitive to drugs, but I've taken Benadryl on and off for 20 years and until this week, have had no problems with it. However, I notice my brand of Benadryl is no longer on the market, the little caplets, white and pink with a dark purple color around the center. I asked the pharmacist what happen to the pill and they claim they did not know. DO NOT USE THIS DRUG, | I took very small doses of Benadry over 20 years, maybe 3 MG each night and did not experience really bad side effects. I felt like I was in a fog sometimes but was able to sleep and function without problems with my post nasal drip which is extremely bad and triggers my asthma. In the past 3 years I increased my dosage and did not realize that the medication was affecting me. It is a horrible drug and I did try to find information, like is on this site, but did not find any negative information.
