She recommended Restasis so she gave me some samples. She said it would take 2-4 weeks to start working. So I began taking it and within 3 weeks exactly my eyes started feeling better with minor burn on application on my eyes only. Exactly as soon as my eyes started feeling good my entire body did not. I began to feel nauseated, dizzy, lethargic and tired. At times I felt short short of breath and extreme sinus pressure to the point that I had to breathe through my mouth. I couldn't pinpoint why I was feeling this way I thought it was food poisoning but the symptoms would not go away. I started freaking out because in my line of work the cancer rate is off the roof. I kept getting worse to the point that my wife wanted to take me to the E.R.. AGAIN, I'm not the type of person that just gets sick for no reason. We both sat down and pin pointed what I was doing different from my daily routine. It came down to the Restasis that I was given. I decided to stop taking it and immediately after 24 hours I felt much better. The longer I went without it the better I felt. I did some research and this medication suppresses your immune system. Given the side effects I have encountered, I wish I would have started on the Doxycycline at this point My dry eye did not seem to have any improvement in the last 2 weeks, but I read that most patients did not see improvement for 4 months. The thing is, I don't see how I could stay on this for 4 months. Symptoms of sinus pressure and increased mucous started after 3-4 days, and increasingly become worse. Swollen gums, tenderness around my teeth, started after about 7 days. At this point, this is the greatest concern as my gums and teeth have always been great. Now my gums around my teeth are all swollen. This is what prompted me to start doing some research on Restasis, and how I ended up here. Apparently the oral version of Cyclosporine is associated with gingivitis. But I did not see gingivitis listed on the mfg list of side effects, otherwise I would have stopped it earlier. Now at day 14, and my gums have only become worse, no matter what I do there is no stopping the tenderness. Increased blood pressure for sure. Noticed that after day 10.
