PREMARIN  (ESTROGENS, CONJUGATED):  This medication is a female hormone. It is used by women to help reduce symptoms of menopause (such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness). These symptoms are caused by the body making less estrogen. If you are using this medication to treat symptoms only in and around the vagina, products applied directly inside the vagina should be considered before medications that are taken by mouth, absorbed through the skin, or injected. Certain estrogen products may also be used by women after menopause to prevent bone loss (osteoporosis). However, there are other medications (such as raloxifene, bisphosphonates including alendronate) that are also effective in preventing bone loss and may be safer. These medications should be considered for use before estrogen treatment. Certain estrogen products may also be used by men and women to treat cancers (certain types of prostate cancer, breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body) and by women who are not able to produce enough estrogen (for example, due to hypogonadism, primary ovarian failure).    (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

5  Hysterectomy at 19 None, ever. I had a medically necessary hysterectomy at age 19. I have been on Premarin 0.625 since I was 19 years old. My surgeon told me he was putting me on 0.625 so that I could take Premarin the rest of my life. It has worked for me with no adverse effects. I have osteoporosis that I would not know but for bone scan. Otherwise in perfect health. My new doctor wants me to stop taking it, says a 57 year old woman has no business taking Premarin. I know if I stop I will spiral into bad health. You'd think I was asking to continue on a truly dangerous drug like opioids or something (again I take no other meds). We know our bodies better than anyone, doctors should really listen to their patients - health is not a one size fits all. F 57 38 years

5  2 yrs meno/12 years partial hysterectomy None 2 years menopause. 12 years post Hyster with ovaries retained. Hot flashes came close to killing our relationship and were destroying me mentally. Who knew the top of your fingers could drip with sweat! I had to rely on air con or fans and he couldn't cope with them, resulting in sleeping in different rooms. Meno weight gain was 20kg in 15 months. Skin appearance is leathery and can't wear moisturiser or even sunscreen because it'd feel like wearing a wetsuit. Brain fog was starting to get to me and my fuse was getting shorter. Saw my doctor yesterday who is getting me to do bloods and a boob pancake for a reference point. First tablet yesterday. 2 very small hot flushes during the night that only involved kicking the sheet off instead of having to move beds due to sweat. Today, could dry my hair and do my makeup without being under the air con. Instead of a hot flush every 30-60 minutes, I've had 3. My meno belly has a tiny bit less jiggle with the scales reflecting similar. I've tried Happy Mammoth, Remifemin, Previtalise & Provitalise as well as countless herbal supplements that have cost me a fortune. This little box of 28 days goodness is off to a stellar start. I'm truly hopeful it'll help me get back to my pre meno body and I won't be scared of eating food like I used to be. Might even restore the intimacy in our relationship! F 52 2 days

5  Full hysterectomy 15 years ago None. It makes me feel normal. Had a horrible time for two years after full hysterectomy - hot flashes, insomnia, extreme anxiety, joint pain, the works. None of the "natural" estrogens (pills, patches, gels) worked. Premarin did. My primary care Dr is starting to make noises about me stopping it now that I'm reaching the magic age of 65, apparently it is OK up until you are 64 and 11 months old, then it becomes deadly. I run three miles a day and am perfectly healthy, so I see no reason to change anything. I'd rather find a new doctor. F 64 13 years

5  Full hysterectomy I had a full hysterectomy ( they kept my right side ovaries due to osteoporosis) I’ve been on these pills since . My hot flashes and mood swings were off the charts . Since then I’ve been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer . It’s inoperable and they have no cure . In sight . I’ve recently been reduced to 0.625 mg . I’m positive if I didn’t have this drug my family and myself would not have been able to handle me and my moods . F 50 11 years

5  Complete Hysterectomy at age 35 No side effects for 35 years. I felt wonderful. I had a DVT last March and tested positive for anticoagulant. Was advised by 3 Dr's to go off cold Turkey. It's been 3 months off premarin and I feel horrible. Chronic pain, fatigue, and all the symptoms that go along with menopause. I have not been able to work since March. I want to go back on it but scared of the risks. Please email me at jackiebrown628gmail.com with any suggestions F 65 35 years

5  complete hysterectomy none I beleive as soon as I got on them they began to work their magic and continued throughout the years. Lucky Me. Back in the day I remember when I was younger the older ladies use to call them the banana pills. Do not ask me why, maybe because mine are oblong and yellow, yet not all premarin are looking the same. Yes I have additional comments. I was suggested by physicians a few times to get off of premarin and I tried until I experienced physical pain that I didn't like and at the time I was on percocets and that didn't kill the pain. So as I continued to suffer I said enough is enough. As i went back on my Premarin the pain went away just like that, therefore I told the Dr at the time. Then once again to the next Dr and then again to the next Dr then after this many times I said enough is enough because everytime it was the same, Pain. A new Pain. Comming from not being on Premarin so Drs said my body is addicted or my body needs it and I say I don't care just give me my script I need my Drug!!!!!!!!!!!! F 67 37 years

5  Total hysterectomy My history: I had hormone NEGATIVE/Her2 Positive Breast Cancer 5 1/2 years ago. During chemotherapy, my constipation was so horrific it caused a cystocele and rectocele. Nine months after I completed chemotherapy, I decided to have it repaired. My GYN told me I should just get a total hysterectomy “while she’s in there” because “you never know.” My genetic testing was negative and my oncologist was not concerned about ovary removal because I was hormone negative. I have regretted that decision (to remove my ovaries) daily. I once had beautiful, thick hair and nice skin. Now it is thin on top and my skin looks old and pale. My hot flashes are HORRIFIC. My quality of life HORRIBLE. I was angry, hateful and depressed. I tried Effexor, Clonidine, and multiple other medications without success. Once more research was published about my type of breast cancer, I learned that estrogen actually blocks the androgen that fueled my breast cancer. So, I was given clearance to try estradiol. I started with the oral route, switched to the patch, then to bioidentical hormones, always resulting in massive post-nasal drip, nausea, headaches, weight gain, swelling, etc. So, I suffered. I recently found this site and learned that some women tolerate Premarin much better than estradiol. So, my GYN prescribed it (with my oncologist’s approval) and although it’s only been a few days, I am thrilled to say, I have had minimal side effects (whereas with estradiol My quality of life was horrible and I suffered. I could have gotten past my appearance had I not endured crippling hot flashes and heat intolerance (I live in the South and can rarely go out in the heat). Praying this works (I will bump up the dosage in a couple weeks). My quality of life, and my marriage, are worth any risks. Thank you, Premarin! F 49 4 days

5  Hysterectomy (Uterus & Ovaries) None that I noticed The hysterectomy that I had no choice but to undergo force me into surgical menopause. I feel horrible I had no energy I was having hot flashes night sweats and I would gained 35 lb and 8 months. I had never weighed over 110 lb before the hysterectomy. Doc first prescribe me Estradiol as hormone replacement and it didn't help at all. I went back and my doctor prescribe me Premarin and it made a huge difference in my life. With Premarin the hot flashes, night sweats, moodiness, old feeling went away. I also lost 30 pounds within 6 months without changing my diet. It's like it made my metabolism come back to normal. Risk with Premarin are minimal no matter what they've been saying in recent years I've had friends that have been on Premarin since they were in their twenties after hysterectomy and they tried to switch them off of it and it did not go well for them either. Don't be afraid of the Premarin it will definitely make you feel better and help to get some weight off of you. F 46 2 years

5  Oophorectomy 2016 I had a partial hysterectomy in 1997. Had a large cyst on my ovary and had a Oophorectomy in December 2016. I immediately went into full menopause, I had experience some issues with the partial but nothing major but after the last surgery, crying spells, hot flashes, depression, not sleeping, you name it i experienced it started. My doctor initial started me on 1.25 mg once a day of the Premarin and that worked for a short time but then the hot flashes got worst so he up the dosage to 2 a day of the 1.25mg and I haven't experienced any issues since. My sex life is even better since I started taking the medicine and I am so glad since my husband is younger than me. Premarin saved my life and my marriage. I rather deal with my husband sexual appetite than to deal with him not being able to touch me because I could stand to be touched because the hot flashes, depression and crying spells were so bad.  5  To keep organs & hormones balanced. I feel wonderful. no mood swings, skin looks like <57 yr. old, bones strong, Libido great, cardio great, no cancer, still get period monthly (love it), no pain and feel extremely alert..! I take Premarin 25 days and last 10 days together with 10 mg medroxyprogesterone. Never went through menopause. Feel wonderful and strong and vivacious. Stopped for 1 month and thought I was headed for the grave. Immediately began taking and will never quit. I know I look younger than most all women my age and totally believe it's because of the combo of Premarin & Medroxyprogesterone.. along with nutritious diet & exercise, no smoking and very little drinking of wine. I am a health nut. How can I convince my Doctor to let me stay on this and make sure my Insurance covers it??? I know I'll shrivel up and die without it. No joke! F 72 30 years
