After taking the 50mg for 3 months, my dermatologist upped me to 100mg. The first month I still got one cyst on my armpits here and there, but since then I have been cyst-free for almost 2 months now! My weight has remained the same (150lb, I'm 5'5, athletic build), but since taking the 100mg dose my face is much less puffy!. It took about a month on the 100mg dose to completely clear my armpits. I still experience discomfort and some itchiness under my arms, but my skin doing great. I also used to get occasional cystic acne on my back, which has gone away completely since starting spiro. The side effects can be tough, especially the first few months, but now I barely experience anything (besides dry mouth). I feel like I have more energy and confidence since starting this medication. SPIRONOLACTONE (SPIRONOLACTONE): Spironolactone is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. It is also used to treat swelling (edema) caused by certain conditions (such as heart failure, liver disease) by removing excess fluid and improving symptoms such as breathing problems. This medication is also used to treat low potassium levels and conditions in which the body is making too much of a natural chemical (aldosterone).
