ESTRADIOL  (ESTRADIOL):  This medication is a female hormone (estrogen). It is used by women to help reduce vaginal symptoms of menopause (such as vaginal dryness/burning/itching). These symptoms are caused by the body making less estrogen. When treating only vaginal symptoms of menopause, products applied directly inside the vagina (such as this medication) should be used first. Estrogens that are taken by mouth, absorbed through the skin, or injected may have greater risks of side effects due to more estrogen being absorbed.   FDA Approval Date: 1996-03-14 (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

3  Hysterectomy Some days extremely fatigued, strange arm pain, feel like I cannot move some days, chest tightness, some headaches. It definitely controls the hot flashes I mean like totally successful in this way and that is why I have continued to take it but I have become suspicious that it may be the culprit of my health problems. I have been weaning myself off it the last couple of weeks and I can already feel the hot flashes returning. I am going to see how I do without it awhile even if I have to suffer the hot flashes.  2  Post menopausal Anxiety, mood swings and crying spells. Dry lips and thirsty all the time. The first day I took it it gave me a lot of energy and I felt like I found something that was going to work for me. But then as I continue to take it started to give me anxiety and a roller coaster of mood swings even to the point of wanting to cry. I rather have flashes than deal with the side effects.  3  Hysterectomy/menopause Headache, muscle and joint pain, stomach cramps, nausea, dizziness, insomnia, bloating, indegestion, painful calfs, increased anxiety, sore throat, blocked ears with pressure, flu type symptoms, heart palpitations, stuffy blocked nose, irritated bowels and bladder, thinning hair. I started on hrt 4 years ago after a hysterectomy, I still have my ovaries was only 44 at time of starting it, it's been a long and uncomfortable journey I've never felt great on any hrt but can't put up with symptoms without it, each one I try brings a whole list of horrible side effects but to be fair if you wait long enough most subside, but I always get left with ongoing side effects it's a trade off, with that and menopause symptoms hard to tell the difference sometimes, the one and only thing it takes care of is the flushes hit and miss with the rest, I'm in uk and use everol 50, it's not brilliant but the better one I used recently tryed estradot /villedot and that was awful felt like I was dying on that gave up after 3 months and went back to everol, don't like the patch so visable and at times problems with sticking, used the gel in beginning for a year which was better but gave me constant thrush, can't win, lucky women who stick on a patch and claim its a miracle, think that's not the case for most of us, certainly not me, treat symptoms but get side effects there's always a trade off F 48 4 years

4  Hot flashes No significant side effects. Maybe a bit more tired and sore but this beats the hot flashes at age 67, was still having hot flashes. Enough is enough. It has been over 10 years since menopause. So sought help with gyn. We are slowly, at lowest dosage possible trying to stop the for flash cycle. .025 mg helped a lot and .0375 seems to stop them. Will jump off in 6 months to see if the flashes have stopped. F 67 6 months
