3  Type 2 Diabetes nausea, gall bladder removal, weight loss, fatigue I have been taking Victoza for 3 years. Right away I experienced a big reduction in hunger, and could only eat small portions of food. It lowered my blood sugar within a week and keeps it stable. I did feel fatigue and nausea that never goes away. Nausea is helped only when taking anti-nausea meds. Fatigue is strong and I am always exhausted. I had to stop it for a few days due to a flu, and the nausea and fatigue went away within 2 days, and came back within a day of re-starting it. I lost 30 pounds in the first year and then have been at the same weight, even though I eat way less than I did before Victoza. About a year and a half in, my gall bladder went bad and had to be removed. Now I am at the 3 year mark, and feeling pain in the gall bladder area, along with increased sweating, nausea, and vomiting every few days for the last month. I suspect I am having pancreas problems, probably from the Victoza. Am going to my GI dr next week to get checked out. It did help for a while, but I am planning to change to something else, because I suspect if I don’t, I will have pancreas trouble. So I am 50/50 on recommending this med. It did help with weight loss and stabilizing blood sugar, but the nausea, fatigue, and gall bladder removal are harsh side effects. F 59 3 years

4  Weight Control - pre-diabetic Constipation The drug worked incredibly well to cut back on eating , one just never feels hungry. I had to force myself to eat , however i stopped due to constipation . Perhaps it had something to do with not eating M 56 2 years

2  Diabetes 2 Only side effects were extreme nausea if I did not eat soon enough. Lost 50 pounds and was not eating like a diabetic should. I decided to quit taking because I am tired most of the time, cannot sleep and seems to be aggravating my depression. I also have rheumatoid arthritis and am worried that the drug is increasing the general malaise you feel with RA. This drug is not a good companion to the illnesses that I have struggled with for a long time I was worried about pancreatic or thyroid cancer from the beginning but my doctor said the chances were Slim as opposed to my hi A1C scores. I knew that I should be following a strict diet, but once I was on it I lost weight so fast that I kept taking it. Now after two years, I have decided the risk is not worth it. I have never been the type to be nauseated in my entire life and can get extremely violent Leon nauseated now so this is a very strong drug. Who knows what else it could be doing to my body. I am going to follow a more nutritious diet and see what happens. F 64 2 years

1  Type 2 Diabetes DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG.. IT IS A POISON TO YOUR BODY. It is most possibly the worst drug ever. Yes I lost weight and my A1C was lower but I had to undergo $100,000 worth of testing after I took this drug. It completely messed up my body and is so not worth it. Being in the hospital because of a drug is not ok. The people who have only been on it for 5-10 days and are commenting should not be able to. Yes, I too was fine for the first two weeks. Just wait you will feel like death soon and your body will not be able to function. It is a very harmful drug that should not be allowed on the market. Please listen to your body!! DO NOT TAKE THIS POISON F 35 2 years

1  Type II Deabetes Debilitating nausea, vomiting, extreme fatigue. I had a Lap Band, and thought that my symptoms were from that, so eventually I had the Lap Band removed. In the recovery phase from removing the Lap Band, the symptoms intensified greatly. Food made me very nauseated, and I could hardly make it through a day at work. Then I ran out of the needles for injecting Victoza, and the next day I was much better. Got needles, took Victoza and the following day I was back to feeling rotten. So I stayed off the Victoza over the weekend, again felt much better. Saw MD, switched to another antidiabetic medication and have had no further symptoms! Victoza, along with Metformin and diet, exercise, did help keep my HbA1c lower, and I was blaming the nausea and often vomiting on the lap band. I did lose some weight while taking the Victoza, but at the cost of being completely miserable most of the time. I wonder if I would have needed to have the lap band removed had I discovered this adverse effect of the Victoza sooner? I guess I will never know. I would like to emphasize that for me, the nausea and fatigue were not just annoying, they were life altering. The side effects were often debilitating, and once I stopped taking the Victoza, the relief was amazing. I realize that the company might say that it was the Lap Band causing the side effects, and that is what I thought, and why I had it removed. But the symptoms continued unabated, in fact worsened as I was recovering from the surgery, and did not abate until I stopped taking the Victoza. F 63 2 years

5  Diabetes type 2 Had typical side effects of nausea and eggy burps for 1-2 weeks and they went away. Only experience nausea now if I overeat especially if high in carbs. It has given me great blood sugar control and my A1c numbers have been excellent since starting. It has been a wonder drug for me. F 44 1 years

4  sugar control nausea and headaches for the first 2 weeks, then that's it. On victoza for 16 mo. Prior to Victoza, I suffered severe fatigue, high blood pressure, hypo thyroid, depression, epstein bar and other symp. Prior to endo, went to 5 diff. drs and they all medicated me w/out results. After Victoza, nausea and headaches for about 2 weeks, then I felt like a new human being. Energy, no depression, lost 30 pounds. Endo & I decided to slowly come off the meds. After 1.5 weeks, began to feel fatigue and began to gain weight. TERRIFIED... that I would go back to my old self again and of all the reports of pancreatitis, thyroid n pancreas cancer. If I go back on, am I taking a risk? Scared... F 50 1 years

4  Diabetes Typical stomach upset. Had to cut out all fried foods or suffer consequences. After 1 year my metabolism is slowing because eating less. Now gaining weight. Same thing after 1 year in trulicity. I regained what I lost but the new weight is solid fat on my hips. I adjust my dose to accommodate things like parties, family gathering and long bike rides. Sometimes I need to eat. Doc loves the numbers I get. But I am wondering how to get metabolism back to normal. Gaining weight on a salad a day plus breakfast is insane. F 63 1 years

3  Type 2 diabetes Lots of abdominal pain, thought it was my gall bladder and after lots of tests found out it is not. Now have started the very bad sour tasting belching, diarrhea, that will be followed by severe throwing up. Notice if I am stressed it gets worse. I can't stand the burping and the gas. Was going to have more tests ran until after reading all the comments on here. Plus I have no energy at all. I took it for awhile in the past and never had this kind of problem. But now it is getting intolerable. I was loving it until I have been getting so sick. I thought I kept catching the stomach bug going around. I am going to lay off a few days and see what happens. I have noticed that if I eat raw veggies, fruits and a small piece of chicken, and very small helpings the symptoms go away. But it also makes my blood sugar drop as well. I have lost nearly 60 pounds on this and love that. But hate how I feel. I long to be back to me. Going to talk to my doctor about this. F 59 1 years
