Reclast infusions are the treatment plan her doctors decided use. She had he first infusion 2 days ago. She is in severe pain and cant stand to bare weight on any of her extemities. She has swelling in her hands, legs and feet. She feels absolutley horrible. I dont know how to help her but am seriously considering not agreeing to her 2nd infusion. Something that is suppose to help her is making her misereable. After looking at several comments i see my daughter at 11 years of age is the youngest up here. I don't know how this medicine would work when infused properly. My nurse said no to this drug as I had not even reached middle age. Within 12 hours, I awoke with the worst body aches, joint pains and chest pains to the point that I couldn't take a deep breath. I called my doctor as soon as they opened. I was advised to go to the emergency room. They immediately took me straight to the back. Originally, my blood pressure was 133/41. I explained to the ER doc that I felt like I had the flu times 5 and like a boa constrictor was wrapped around my chest. They did, numerous labs, urinalysis, chest xray and gave me IV pain meds and meds for nausea. The doc came in and said all test came back fine and said my symptoms were from the Reclast. He was about to discharge me when I told the nurse I felt as if I had a fever. She checked it, and it was 102.4. Then came the vomiting. I also could not urinate, so they put in a foley catheter. I Had Already Been Doing These Things. I Really Felt In The Dark About The Side Effects Of This Drug. I Am Concerned This May Not Be A "24 Hour Thing". I had anaphylaxis 45 minutes after leaving the infusion clinic. Later that night while sleeping, I woke up to what felt like a heart attack only to find out it was another episode of anaphylaxis. RECLAST (ZOLEDRONIC ACID): This medication is used to treat a certain type of bone disease (Paget's disease) that causes abnormal and weak bones. Zoledronic acid is also used to treat bone loss (osteoporosis) in men and in women after menopause. It may also be used to treat or prevent osteoporosis in people who are taking corticosteroid medications (such as prednisone) for long periods. It works by slowing the breakdown of bone and keeping bones strong. It also helps to reduce the risk of broken bones (fractures). This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as bisphosphonates.
