5 | allergies | none experienced | worked wonders for my allergies, please read actual studies that have been done about the effectiveness of this medicine. medical studies show that it is more effect than zyrtec (about twice) while causing less side effects than zyrtec. i will trust the professionals on this one. its great! | M | 20 | 1 years 5mg 1X day | 4/14/2010 | 5 | allergies | none | Miracle drug, very pleased with results | M | 12 | 7 days 10 1X day | 9/28/2010 | 5 | allergies | No side effects.. | cleared 4 yr old DD cough and runny nose up with 1 dose - previously tried Zyrtec and Claritin - she had severe side effects - would go into a RAGE at the slighest upset... so far, so good with XYZAL... | M | 4 | 2 months 1/2 tsp 1X day | 3/15/2011 | 5 | Allergies,Asthma | None to report. Well tolerated. | I have been on Xyzal for several months now as a replacement for Zyrtec that is now an over the counter medicine. Xyzal works just as good if not better. I have had no side effects with this drug. | M | 38 | 5 months | 3/18/2008 | 5 | Allergies,,Asthma | Have had no side effects with this medicine. | Xyzal replaced Zyrtec. Seems to be working as well as Zyrtec if not better. | M | 38 | 6 months | 3/19/2008 | 5 | CIU | Weight gain - expensive - $50 for 30 pills w/ insurance | This is the only medication that had any control over CIU - even heavy doses of steroids did not help. Occasional hives, but no more emergency room visits or living on Benadryl. If people think this makes them tired try taking Benadryl 2-3 times a day. | M | 37 | 12 months | 12/10/2008 | 5 | severe sinus problems | i love this stuff, if taken before bed the drowsiness is a plus, i've experienced no weight gain or loss of energy | i also use nasonex and mucinex daily | M | 35 | 1.5 years | 7/26/2009 | 5 | allergies | my son had his first leg cramp ( not sure if it's related) | this medicine has completely gotten rid of my sons runny nose.. he has had a runny nose most of his life & just 3 days of this medicine and it's gone.. ( it was actually gone about 45 minutes after the first dose) he has had no bad side effects like he did with singulair... | M | 2 | 3 days | 12/16/2009 | 5 | allergies | Miracle drug, wonderful, knocked it out medicine. | Highly recommend. | M | 16 | 1 days 5mg 1X day | 3/14/2014 | 5 | allergy | i sleep more, that's good | perfect, if i take it on the evening any allerfy simptom literally disappears the next morning | M | 20 | 5 1X day | 5/14/2016 | 5 | dry out bad cold/enviromental | Taken early it makes me tired later in the day. Dry mouth. And feel weak. But its not so bad i cant have a good day. Possibly raised blood pressure a little. Not for sure though. | It helps. I will take again if symptoms are bad. If drowziness isnt acceptable get claritin. | M | 35 | 10 days 10mg | 2/7/2017 | 5 | Hives Allergies | None | I have had severe allergies hives for 25 years. I have taken all of the allergy medications. I also took lyrica cymbalta and antibiotics for many years because of the allergy hives pain I was in. They all worked a little, but nothing like Xyzal!! Absolutely zero side effects. As far as I'm concerned this is a miracle drug. It just works like no other. | M | 57 | 60 days 5-10mg | 5/31/2018 | 4 | Allergies - Meniere's symptoms | Fatigue, bad dreams, lethargy, increased appetite, sleeplessness, moodiness muscle fatigue, major weight gain. | Xyzal ended years of suffering from Meniere's-like symptoms. But, gained 40lbs the first year. Friends/family shocked at my weight change, urged me to try other treatments. Needed a break from the persistent feelings of hunger, fatigue, nightmares, moodiness. So, quit the Xyzal for 8 months. Lost 20 lbs. Sleep and energy levels returned to normal. But, Meniere's symptoms came back too. Quickly went back on Xyzal. Meniere's symptoms went away again; ugly side-effects came back too. Gained 40+ more lbs; up 60 lbs since the beginning of 2012 (still gaining). The bad sides are so distinct that I'm convinced they are from the Xyzal. Even so, I've concluded that I'd rather be a fat guy than go deaf with severe vertigo and the risk of losing my drivers license. Still researching new treatment methods so I can get off Xyzal, though. | M | 45 | 1.8 years 10mg 1X day | 10/13/2013 | 4 | chronic idiopathic urticaria | Weight gain and feeling tired. | I couldn't figure out why I was gaining weight and feeling drowsy and then I started looking at these comments and realized it must be the Xyzal. I stopped taking it 2 days ago and so far the hives haven't returned. | M | 53 | 6 months | 11/23/2008 | 4 | Asthma, Exteme allergies | I have not noticed any pronounced side effects. I took zyrtec for a year. I got used to the drowsiness after about a week and it did not bother me either. I did gain some weight on it but not too drastic. Side effects with Xyzal seem to be less. | I took Zyrtec for a year. It changed my life. It was the only thing that helped my chronic severe tightness in my bronchial tubes. It was like a miracle drug...until one day I guess my body got too used to it and it quit working. I was miserable again for quite a while until I heard about Xyzal and decided to try it. So far, it seems to be working. My fear is that a few months later I will have the same problem as I did with Zyrtec. I wonder if anyone on here has had a similar experience and has advice on how to avoid this drug loosing its effectiveness. If so please chime in. | M | 56 | 14 days 5mg 1X day | 1/9/2012 | 3 | Allergies | My 3 1/2 year old has been taking it. It helped tremendously with his allergies but he has had trouble going to sleep and has been rolling all over the place at bedtime which is unlike him. He has also been moody and speaking back to us which is also unlike him. | He has been off of it for 2 days so hopefully we will see an improvement in his behavior. | M | 3 | 3 weeks 1 tsp 1X day | 4/26/2012 | 3 | Allergies, Dermatitis | First, it works great as a sleeping pill before bed time. As good as most sleeping pills. Great antihistamine too. But I noticed depression in the morning after a full dose. I cut the nightly dose in half and that seems to cut back on the morning depression. This should be listed as a side effect! | M | 42 | 2 years 20 1X day | 8/4/2012 | 3 | Year Round Allergies | Strong feeling of tiredness and fatigue. It slows down your metabolism and therefore caused weight gain within a few weeks. I am very active in the outdoors (hiking/mountain biking) and there are times it seems ineffective. I had better results with Allegra, but Allegra will raise your blood pressure over time. | It is somewhat effective, but I suggest using it in conjunction with a nasal spray like Rhinocort. In a heavy ragweed environment, it is not very effective. I am very active and I experienced weight gain. It also makes you feel tired. I continue to use it because it will not enlarge your prostrate and raise your blood pressure like other allergy medications. | M | 44 | 1 years 30MG 1X day | 3/16/2010 | 3 | Allergies and Asthma | Explosive diarrhea, slight weight gain and extremely groggy | When I first took XYZAL, I could tell it was making me very groggy. I decided to take it at night but could barely peel myself up from bed in the morning. Had explosive diarrhea .. very dark in color! Decided to break the pill in half and take it at night. Same symptoms but not as bad. Makes you very hungry! It does knock out bad allergy symptoms but you have to deal with the side affects. I only take it when needed! | M | 45 | 5 months | 3/4/2009 | 3 | allergies | shortness of breath developed after a month or so: severity varies by day | I took this in the evening to avoid fatigue (replaced fexofenadine). I am discontinuing use of this drug, however, due to the shortness of breath... it's a worrisome side effect. | M | 43 | 4 months | 3/7/2009 |
XYZAL (LEVOCETIRIZINE DIHYDROCHLORIDE): Levocetirizine is an antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms such as watery eyes, runny nose, itching eyes/nose, and sneezing. It is also used to relieve itching and hives. It works by blocking a certain natural substance (histamine) that your body makes during an allergic reaction. Levocetirizine does not prevent hives or prevent/treat a serious allergic reaction (such as anaphylaxis). If your doctor has prescribed epinephrine to treat allergic reactions, always carry your epinephrine injector with you. Do not use levocetirizine in place of your epinephrine.
