I've had pretty poor health (up and down blood sugar, pain in muscles, brain fog) for a similar amount of time, and have tried a lot of things to get back to feeling normal.... I started taking the xyzal about two weeks before I expected the headache and here I am half way through and no full blown headache and minimal sinus pressure. I'm trying not to jump the gun but I'm thrilled. I still get a low-grade "almost" headache every so often but it beats going to bed with one and waking up with it. Feel like I am high all day after taking pill at night. I will no longer be taking this, lucky for me the Dr. gave me samples to try before I buy. My pharmacist told me they would be 100.00 for 30 day supply insurance will not pay 1 dime. First sudden weight gain. I run 5 miles a day - I eat a raw organic diet. I gained and gained... cut calories worked out more and gained and gained. 10 months later I'm 17 pounds heavier and feel every bit was due to the xyzal. Crying all day - weepy. Depressed. Not just vivid but grotesque and terrifying dreams - just horrible. BRAIN FOG --- close car accidents not due to sleepiness but inability to focus. On top of all this HIGH anxiety - and my allergies were NO better. Today I start Allegra. Fingers crossed. | I really gave this more than a chance. I gave it many chances...such a tiny pill could do all this? I've had many blood tests and psychological "chats" with people I trust and there is nothing wrong with my mind or my chemistry. I guess this works for some people, but not for me. If I can tolerate the Allegra I'll stick to it. I'm NOT a hypochondriac and in fact denied for months that I was even having side effects. It slows down your metabolism and therefore caused weight gain within a few weeks. I am very active in the outdoors (hiking/mountain biking) and there are times it seems ineffective. I had better results with Allegra, but Allegra will raise your blood pressure over time. | It is somewhat effective, but I suggest using it in conjunction with a nasal spray like Rhinocort. In a heavy ragweed environment, it is not very effective. I am very active and I experienced weight gain. It also makes you feel tired. I continue to use it because it will not enlarge your prostrate and raise your blood pressure like other allergy medications. | M | 44 | 1 years 30MG 1X D | 3/16/2010 | 2 | allergies | depression, brain fog, fatigue | I took it at night and I felt stoned all day. It did help the allergies though. I dc'd it at the recommendation of his pediatrician. Two weeks today, and all side effects are gone. | Xyzal most certainly helped my son with his cat and dust mite allergies. However, the negative side effects far out weighed the benefits. My son's vocal tic was loud and disruptive. He would tic 3-4x/min at its peak. It made me cry every day until the Rx was out of his system.
