He was on Risperdal and Prozac and did ok for a while, but recently started having severe mood swings, worsening of depression, and hearing voices and seeing things again. Increasing Risperdal helped a little, but he yawned all the time and you could really tell when the dose was wearing off. Invega has worked very well for him so far. He stays in a much more steady mood all day and is becoming more pleasant. Also recently switched Prozac to Wellbutrin, and either the overlap of the 2 drugs helped or the Wellbutrin is really helping. INVEGA (PALIPERIDONE): This medication is used to treat certain mental/mood disorders (such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder). This medication can decrease hallucinations and help you to think more clearly and positively about yourself, feel less agitated, and take a more active part in everyday life. Paliperidone belongs to a class of drugs called atypical antipsychotics. It works by helping to restore the balance of certain natural substances in the brain.
