5  Bipolar II Depression/Anxiety A little jittery in the morning, mild nausea. No other side effects yet~ I've only been on this medication for 3 days. So far, it seems to be working very well. I usually respond to medications very quickly. In addition, I'm taking Lamictal. So right now, I'm not sure if it's the Lamictal or Pristiq which is helping or the combo of the two. Right now I feel great! I hope it lasts! 3 days

1  Posting on behalf of my father Worsened anxiety Worsened bipolar Extreme detachment Suicidal I am so happy I found this site after seeing what happened to my father (in his 50's). The reviews that come up when one googles this drug seem completely misleading until you dig a bit further. My father was switched from Lexapro to Pristiq for his bipolar when Lexapro stopped working. What happened after a few weeks was enough to scare the whole family and every acquaintance of my fathers. It was like he was a walking zombie with no feelings other than negative and irrational ones and turned verbally aggressive to everyone. His lows were lower than ever, and his manic highs were returning. How can one drug such as lexapro work so well (before tolerance sets in), and pristiq do so much damage. In the end the only choices left were to either have him admitted to get help and commence legal proceedings against the manufacturer, or have him come off willingly. Luckily, after a few devastating incidents caused by his behavior to friends and family - he agreed to come off the drug. Coming off the drug however has posed new problems that never occurred with Lexapro. All that matters is that he has finally listened to the family about his destructive behavior on this drug and we are all slowly working together as a family to get some stability back. I still don't understand the adverse reaction when other antidepressants worked fine for him. I have a really uncomfortable feeling that the true dangers of this drug will not be made public for years until a class action is filed. 54 4 months

1  Anxiety and Bi Polar Disorder Racing thoughts, impulse control isssues, sociopathic behavior, risk taking behavior, flat, muscle pain, tension, nausea, binge eating, constant urination, dry mouth, exsersize resistant, anger, repressed, disassociation, feelings of anger, withdrawal syndrome, pancreatitis, fat stranding. While this treatment is effective for the cessation of anxiety, the risk to cure is too high. I still had all the underlaying issues that lead me to the drugs. The drug is too hard to discontinue. Also, the severe nature of a discontinuation could lead to a misdiagnosis. I was on Pristiq for 6 years before discontinuing the treatment. 45 10 days

5  Depression I was told to take it in the morning but it made me so sleepy in combination with other meds that also cause sleepiness so switched to night. End of problem. Slight headaches, slightly blurred vision, very dry mouth. Itchy skin which may or may not be related to the drug. I was prescribed this because the medication I take for bipolar wasnt enough for the down side. Effexor was ineffective entirely. Within a week I was feeling better. After 30 days I havent had a single bad episode of depression. The side effects are worth it to me. F 60 30 days

5  Depression, anxiety Slight sexual side effects but nothing major. This medication has been a game changer! If you've tried SSRI's and haven't had success, I recommend trying Pristiq. I'm so glad my psychiatrist suggested it and that I was open to trying it. F 38 2 weeks

5  Depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD My side effects: laughing, enjoying life, love exercising, more social, feeling confident, no irritability, successful in life etc... I definitely would recommend to anyone struggling. No need to struggle and be miserable when you have Pristiq. Wish I would have known about this medication years ago. I have worked in healthcare/hospital for years and Pristiq has helped me tremendously to get through such horrific times. I am now able to take great care of COVID patients without feeling so overwhelmed, anxious and depressed when I thought I had nothing left in me... if you are struggling-Pristiq may be your life changer. Highly recommend. F 40 2 months

5  Schizoaffective, ocd, panic, anxiet None Helped my ocd and the depression part of my schizoaffective a lot, with less sexual side effects than my previous antidepressant, which is primarily why I switched. I am able to enjoy sex again. I did quickly have to go to 100mg for it to work well for me. After about a year on it though my depression is beginning to come back so I am actually switching to another antidepressant that is supposed to be more effective for my eating disorder. F 31 1 years

5  Depression Anxiety Just have to take it same time every day. Just within a few hours of not taking my dose for the day I get side effects of headache, nausea, etc. Missing a whole day causes that next day of being very ill. Otherwise if take like clockwork it has been the best antidepressant ever. F 47 8 months

5  Depression and anxiety Nausea, motion sickness even while being the driver, shakes and sweats, feeling a bit too amped up, bruxism, dry mouth, constipation. I am obviously a new user to pristiq, having only been on it for 2 weeks, so take this with a grain of salt. I have a disease similar to lupus that causes so many symptoms that I may have had more side effects without knowing. This disease also makes me exceptionally sensitive to medication and I tend to get every rare side effect on the book (and it's no different with this one. I've gotten a few of the concerning side effects and my Dr and I are just monitoring it for now. I'm also extremely sensitive to serotonin and I and my brother have had serotonin syndrome several times, including any time we tried an ssri, so I was very nervous to try an snri. I take bupropion xl (300mg) Lorazepam (1-2mg) pristiq sustained release (25mg) phentermine (37.5mg) in the am and trazadone (200mg) seroquel (50mg) unisom (doxylamine, 50mg) omprazole (20mg) at night. I also take 800mg of ibuprofen 2 to 3 times a day. While I still worry about serotonin syndrome, as it's still building in my system, from the very first day the results were huge for me. I have severe clinical depression and generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and a panic disorder that has only just begun the last year of so. I feel good. Yeah I get a bit shaky, and sometimes I struggle to spit my words out, which I'm used to with my disease, but I can't describe it. The depression is always there, but it's like I'm hearing it knock through a 10" solid steel door. I hardly am even conscious of it. F 35 14 days

5  Depression, anxiety When attempting to switch to another antidepressant because of insurance reasons, I got extremely dizzy. This has been the best antidepressant I have ever been on, secondary to Prozac which sadly just stopped working. This has been the drug that works amazingly for my symptoms. F 44 3 years

5  Anxiety/ Depression None Different meds affect people differently. Pristiq is one that works very well for me, even at a low dose, with no side effects. I was only having mild symptoms, but started this again a few months ago. Thought I might not need it any more so weaned off it. I noticed a big difference in how I have been feeling without it. My mind goes around and around worrying about silly things. I am also too sarcastic in a mean way and can't stop myself from saying rude things. I feel cranky about minor things. I also started eating tons of carbs which I do sometimes when I'm feeling “ off”. I felt much calmer and at peace with a small dose of Pristiq, so I am just going on go back on it for now. It also helps a bit with my sleep which is always disrupted from a painful chronic condition. F 57 90 days

5  Anxiety/Mild Depression I've had a very interesting and unexpected side effect from taking Pristiq. Having taken Pristiq last year for several months and then going off due to co pay costs being so high at the time, I switched to Effexor (wasn't as helpful as Pristiq was for me) so recently, the cost of Prestiq went way down and I knew I wanted to switch back to it - I was positive if this was a side effect of Pristiq last year when I took the medication, but I feel very confidant saying I believe it was because when I stopped taking it I noticed it stopped, but when I started taking Prestiq again it came back ... I don't quite understand how or why, but I believe that not only does it help me, doesn't make me gain weight and has minimal to no negative side effects, the most interesting things I observed while taking Pristiq is that I have much longer and more intense oragasms with my husband. I feel funny sharing this, but it's 100% true! I've always had a good and healthy sex life with my husband, except I have taken medications in the past that I thought slowed my libido down a little so I stopped them - but not only does Prestiq not interfere with my sex drive, I really believe for some reason, some way, some how it absolutely has improved sexual satisfication and oragams. I truly wonder if this has effected of women in a similar way, because of so this could be the start to like a mild version of Viagra, but for women! How amazing would that be for all the women our there who feel they're sex d Love!!! Truly helpful! F 32 60 days

5  Clinical depression and anxiety Initially I had night sweats but once I got used to taking them I was fine. If I ever miss a dose I feel very weak and nauseous. Otherwise this is the best antidepressant I've ever been on and I'm doing better than I ever have. F 25 1 years

5  Depression and anxiety I felt very nauseous for the first few days after taking it but have had no side affects since and have been taking for years. This drug enables me to function properly - I lost a small part of my creativity but before this drug could not concentrate or follow through with any plans. I am far more productive than I was before and it has also made me worry less about silly things and my relationships have improved as a result. I was lucky it worked well for me but all drugs don't work for everyone unfortunately. It's worth a go.. but switch to something else if it's not doing you any favours. F 28 3 years
