2  Depression/concentration issues Headache, restlessness, breathlessness My Dr. wanted to try this off label to help my concentration and focus issues related to depression. (I’m not formally diagnosed ADD) 30mg was way too much for me so we decided to try a pediatric dose of 10mg. Some days it was great, others I’d end up with a raging migraine, anxious and feeling breathless. I don’t drink caffeine or take any other stimulants so there seemed to be no rhyme or reason why my body would respond so differently from day to day. The downsides have outweighed the benefits.  2  ADD/"to stay awake" Uncomfortable heart rate increase (sometimes out of rhythm, goes away and comes back), increased social anxiety, blurry vision within a few hours of ingesting any more than 20mg, a light body-load that makes me feel slightly heavier, significant decrease in appetite, hard to sleep at night even when taking the medication early in the morning, memory loss especially short term. [[[ Prior to being prescribed Vyvanse in 2010 (Age 13), I had been on Fluoxetine since 2007 (Age 10). From 2010-2016 I was taking both medications every day, until I moved from my mother's house and quit cold turkey on both of them. I am diagnosed with ADD, depression, and aspbergers (mild autism), and I have high social anxiety. ]]] I was never an honor student and this medication didn't make me one. Before using this medication (only taking Fluoxetine), my typical day at Elementary School would consist of me goofing off in class, playing by myself at recess, and getting in trouble in the classroom. A few bad report cards later, my mother tried looking for a solution to my ADD (having me take different prescription amphetamines to find which one was "best"). I started seeing a psychiatrist once a month after that and I kept taking the meds I was prescribed everyday, even though they weren't helping and I didn't think to ask why... I was so dulled by the anti-depressant that I didn't care about anything, I just went with the flow. Taking Vyvanse made me tired at first (sleeping through most of my classes), then gave me a slow release of energy at the end (lasting passed 12hrs after taking the medicine, making it hard to sleep) with blurry vision throughout the day making it hard to read and eventually I had to get glasses because of the medicine....  5  Adult ADHD Dry mouth, Diarrhea, Very talkative, Ringing in ears sometimes, Dizziness if I get up too quickly, Lack of appetite. I absolutely love Vyvanse. It has helped me focus so much while I'm at work making me a better employee. I've noticed for me, it works better when I only take it on the days I work. On my days off I don't take it unless I need to clean the entire house. I always feel it working this way. When I took it every day I found myself getting very moody instead of happy. So for me, it works to only take it on my days of work. It also completely takes my appetite away & I have to remind myself to eat cause I don't feel hunger pains at all. I have lost a good amount of weight on this which I'm VERY happy about! F 40 9 months

3  ADD/anxiety At first, intense eupohoria, motivation, concentration, multitasking, fast talking, serious hyperfocus, then the crash : difficulty breathing, motor tics such as clearing throat every 5 to 10 seconds and blinking hard, dry eyes, slight anxiety, depression, no motivation, fatigue This is a dangerous drug if your body does not respond well to it. The first few days were great when it was in effect. I finally felt normal and motivated. No more depression or anxiety, or procrastination. My grades went from failing to an A. I felt on top of the world. I was also taking Prozac 20 mg. The vyvanse effects lasted for about 5 hours and then I would crash. I had horrible reactions, like I couldn't breathe properly and my post nasal drip and clearing of throat would leave me exhausted. I was sweating profusely and I had diarrhea. After researching I found out that SSRIs (antidepressants) and stimulants do not mix and can cause serotonin syndrome. I stopped the prozac and things calmed down a lot. I still crashed but I could breathe and no more tics or dry eyes. However, quickly I started to build a tolerance and I ended up abusing it taking much more than prescribed because it didn't last as long anymore and I felt sick with emptiness and depression. I had no motivation after 3 hours taking it and I have a baby to take care of, so I started to up my dose. My tolerance just kept building. I did everything I was supposed to : eating a large protein filled breakfast and tons of greens and grains all vegan too. It helped a little but not for long.Turns out extended release is not for me because I metabolize it very quickly and what is supposed to last 12 hours only lasts about 2 and then I feel the crash the rest of the day. I am stopping this medication today F 22 2 weeks

1  ADHD HIGH anxiety, headaches and irritated my doctor switched me from Adderall to Vyvance for my adult ADHD. it was terrible for me. My ADHD causes me high anxiety and the vyvanse made my anxiety unbearable. I stuck it out for seven days and it never got better. I was irritable anxious and felt like I wanted to crawl out of my own skin. It did not help with any of my ADHD symptoms. It may work for others but I guess everybody is different. My Adderall extended release was working great and wish he had never switched me. I felt like I was going to go crazy F 34 7 days

5  Adult ADHD Starting Vyvanse I had light headedness, ringing in ears, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and VERY talkative! Be careful when your Dr ups your dosage of this medication because it is VERY strong! I started on 30mg 6 months ago & now am up to 60mg. The 60mg is really really strong! The 1st week I had dizziness, ringing in ears, shaking & felt like I was going to pass out. I had to call in to work 1 day because of this. Now that I've been on 60mg for 3 weeks it feels much better! I can focus so much better on things at work. I have a lot of energy & no appetite. Be careful with this as your hunger pains are non existent on this med!I have to force myself to eat something daily. I've lost 15 lbs in 6 months. That is a positive for me!Please be careful with talking too much on this med cause you WILL talk too much! Other than that, LOVE Vyvanse as it has improved my life. F 40 6 months

3  ADHD/fatigue/Brain Fog Positive Side effects: MOTIVATION (first few years)... My amount of sales increased by aprx $200k+/yr; can complete daily tasks like a normal person; energy to exercise. WEIGHT LOSS/LESS CRAVINGS: LOVE this aspect of course - I feel like a normal person should. ORGANIZED THOUGHTS (for first few years): The amount of clarity on prioritizing my day and actions was amazing and powerful. HELPED WITH MY DEPRESSION, FATIGUE, CONFIDENCE... CAN GET THROUGH MY DAY WITH ENERGY AND JOY! NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS: FORGETFULNESS: (weird since it helps me organize so many thoughts but I forget simple things ALL the time like my clients names or appointments... or just yesterday my friends were taking me out for a b-day lunch and I remembered an hour before and then COMPLETELY forgot... who forgets their b-day party??? Tired Jaw in evening. Rash - little itchy bumps on my breasts that scab over and then come back the next month... weird. Twitches, involuntary muscle movement or tensing. Pressure I am 44 and have taken Vyvanse along with my 2 adult kids for the past 5 years. We all started at the same time for ADHD. We all had great results for the first few years. They did much better in school and I did MUCH better at work... we all felt like we were like how normal people were supposed to feel. After a few years though it seemed like the effects of our organized thinking wore off and possibly replaced with more forgetfulness and worse thought processing than we had before. I have seriously wondered if it has killed some of our brain cells. I have owned 2 mortgage companies and have been in the top 10 realtors in my area... I have had a successful career for 20 years and now after 5 years on vyvanse I feel like Im loosing it... like my brain doesnt work anymore. Also my son who was on it started having delusions 2 years ago and has now been diagnosed with schizophrenia... he remains on vyvanse because it helps with his negative symptoms. My daughter who is on it is a ray of sunshine whom everyone adores but I feel like she is loosing her mind too - she is 22 and every day she has a different idea of what she wants to do with her life and cant make a decision about anything. One might say we all have something hereditary thats making us like this but by the time I was their age I had a car paid for and a great job AND went to college. They can barely take 9 credits and cant hold a job. So we all went down hill together and are spinning our wheels wondering if its because F 44 5 years

4  Depression, fatigue Dry mouth, stomach pain after its wearing off, no appetite, some dizziness, slight weight loss, major nicotine cravings My doctor out me on this for the fatigue that I have with my major depression. When I take it in the morning I feel good, more talkative but still hard to get motivated. I should add that I am currently in a bad depressive state right now and everything is tough and I just added prozac to my lacmictal cocktail. I have insomnia anyway so I take Ambien or lunesta and I can usually get some sleep, but it's still tough. I take it in the morning and I crash around 2 and am tired. I smoke like a banshee lately, one after another, I'm going to try to quit asap. It's good for the morning but I think I need to go up in dose, my mood is meh but that could be the depression.  1  Too talkative This drug should be illegal. It feels on top of the world the first few times you use it and then damages your brain for life. Look up amphetamine neurotoxicity if you don’t believe me. Permanent brain damage, Caused me permanent parkinsons disease Permanent destruction of my prefrontal cortex and dopamine neurons PET imaging has confirmed the damage to my dopamine reward system and my brain. Lost my girlfriend and all friends. Became permanently aggressive violent agitated and extremely irritable. Lost ability to enjoy music or feel ANY emotions. Used to laugh all the time now my eyes look Dead and my whole face looks completely different. I have no personality anymore I am dead inside since taking this neurotoxin for only two months. I will make it my life goal to get this poison banned. Giving speed, a potent neurotoxin, to children is criminal. The psychopathic criminals at the FDA will pay one day for what they have done. Type in amphetamine neurotoxicity on google and spare yourself a lifetime of suffering!!!!! Please save yourself and run far away from this poison if someone prescribes it for you!! You will feel great the first month but before you know it your dopamine neurons will all be fried and you will be chronically depressed emotionless soulless and miserable the rest of your life!!! I am working with others harmed by this poison to get it withdrawn from the market! Email me if your interested. M 20 3 months

4  Attention-Span and Focusing Help My doctor prescribed me 40mg Vyvanse for the thought that I may have ADD/ADHD, which is definitely probably true, but I've mostly hoped it would help with weight loss. For the first few days on the drug, everything seemed to flow smoothly and my attention span was way a lot better than usual. Just the usual expected side effects such as loss of appetite, sweating, and now I'm basically always feeling a little warm. After a week or so the Vyvanse seemed to have little effect on me (I would take them every day at 7am, and then feel sleepy by 10am). Went back to the doctor after a month and she first wanted to bump me up to 60mg, but decided to go ahead and give me a 70mg instead. First day on the new dose of the drug drug was fine, but I took it at 12pm stupidly. I was VERY attentive, not hungry at all that day, and cleaned everything, but could not sleep AT ALL that night and felt sick from it the next morning as well as a tight chest, so I didn't take it that day. Took my second one today at my proper time of 7am and everything seems to be good. No appetite, a little warm, super attentive. I do feel my throat becoming a little tight (or maybe numb) but I also am just getting over a sore throat so I believe it's just the medicine making it more sensitive, nothing alarming though. Hopefully I'll see some weight loss soon! Oh, and my grades are better than ever! As a senior in high school this medication helps a lot. F 17 1 months

4  ADHD Jaw clenching, rashes on my hands, feet and legs get very itchy at night, upper abdominal pain, random ear ringing, some appetite loss, extreme fatigue around 1p.m. everyday, some confusion I have had such a weird experience with Vyvanse. The effects were all over the place, but it helps me a lot. Every now and then when I'm working I get too focused and think too hard and get confused but it doesn't happen that often. Overall I'll take the side effects of what it does for me. It keeps me awake in the morning, I am always exhusted and could never make it through the day if I didn't take a morning nap. This helps me stay awake until needed a nap until around noon to one. F 17 1 months

5  Adult ADHD Good: Increased focus and easier to sustain attention, better concentration and memory for mundane conversations, better attention to details and improved short-term memory, weight loss, stronger orgasms and increased body sensitivity. Easier to handle emotional setbacks and daily stresses. Able to work for 8-10+ hours focused but will be completely dazed at the end if I don't eat well. Bad: Dry mouth, diarrhea 1 hour after taking (worse if drinking alcohol the night before), ringing in ears, no appetite, vision disturbances (sometimes will catch things out of the corner of my eye and have light sensitivity). At first I had no problems falling and staying asleep. Now it is difficult to fall asleep without alcohol or ambien and when I do, I wake up at 5-6am even if I went to sleep at 3am (I always take the medicine before 8-9am and drink 2 cups of coffee with it but no caffeine later in the day). Periods are longer with 3-4 extra days of light spotting. Yeast infection. Attention Started at 20mg and went to 30mg after month 1 with minimal side effects. After month 2 went to 40 mg and have been on that for 2 months. Be careful because side effects can take awhile to build (sensitivity to light and insomnia). For me, the medicine became more effective after month 2 on 40mg and now it feels like it might be too much. I was going to ask to try 50mg but glad I didn't. Eating is ESSENTIAL to prevent "crash", dizziness, and headaches. I eat a protein bar an hour after taking and have a protein shake and a small meal around lunch. Sometimes I end up snacking and eat one meal a day around dinner. 15 lbs lost by month 3. When I eat throughout the day and get enough sleep, I can't tell when the medicine wears off. A daily multivitamin also helps you feel better. I also have hypothyroidism and take 90mg Armour. Each increase of vyvanse there is a little more hair shedding that stops after a couple of weeks.  1  ADHD Okay. Let this be a warning to everyone to be cautious. Very. I was prescribed this drug for the purpose of ADHD. I'll start with the adverse effects that i've experienced so far as a highlight.. * Numbness of body parts. When I was sitting on my chair today 4th dose I lifted my leg. When I lifted it it was overcome with the feeling of it being asleep after resting the other leg on it for prolongued time. This was more intense. I felt tiny bubbles in the masses of hundreds climb my leg from bottom to thigh almost as if it was the speed of light. It then was relieved after. Fast forward to later today..I couldn't move that exact leg for multiple minutes. The thing is that this drug effects your body's nerve receptor's. And i've NEVER been in any form of paralasys. I am catching up with my doctor on this, but this is nothing she nor most doctors will ever tell you. These serious and other serious adverse effects are oddly common. It is a controlled substance, with amphetamine. It is very strong. The only warnings I recieved during the appointment was sleep and appetite loss...and was only checked for a minute at that for vital signs. No heart rate chart that apparently isn't required. NOTE that giving your child a drug this strong and controlled is not recognized by state as abuse, but as your children have no decision in the matter you must understand if you make this poor decision if it doesn't work well with their body's chemistry.... Pshyciatric effects: I myself am a *Pleass read my brief, but not bried and rather in-debth description of what I, and many might and have lately felt themselves.* This controlled substance can cause severe effects that may be permanent especially with damage of the body such aa organ damage, nervouse system damage, sterotonin damage that has been discussed, chest pain, light headedness, numbness (A result of nervous system impairment that can result in muscle stiffness often for patients with this problem, of course you know at a extreme all time severe case though would be paralysis), painful penile erection (very rare more so), cold feelings due to the fact that this drug changes your blood temperature and change in pigment of skin varying from pale, red, or blue also possibly and commonly being a result of this blood temp. change and mostly located on fingers or toes, sudden wounds that aren't explained, agression, hostility, paranoia, note that thoze changes in the stae of mind are currently labeled as a rare side effect, but are actually a common thing for a lot of people probably because of how intense this drug really is. It can cause less severe effects like dry mouth, insomnia, vomiting, diarrhea and more even blurred vision and slight loss of eyesight, going hand in hand with thay of course being a less dangerous side effect. This drug is crazy and it's family members..i continue to be vigilent. Everyone else should as well. I have already experienced a sum of the intense. Along with the blessings, M 18 4 days

5  ADD/ ADHD Loss of appetite, headaches if I do not continue to drink a lot of water, occasional bowel problems. Already have IBS though so can't really tell if thats due to the vyvanse. Vyvanse has worked wonders for me. I do not even feel it when it "starts to kick in," it pretty much just happens gradually and I am able to focus more, have more motivation and less of a desire to make poor choices. Everything that I disliked about myself (lack of motivation with school, horrible procrastination, bad impulse control, severely impatient, lack of focus or too much focus on background noise, and even binge eating at points in my life) has all significantly improved. I was just diagnosed this year at 21, and I finally feel like the student I knew I could be. I always had the symptoms but they started to show the last year of HS when s*** got harder. Also when I started smoking weed heavily so no one thought ADD. I got into a great college, but it was extremely difficult and I had to work a lot harder to get better grades. I was treated for depression and anxiety for over a year before my doctor mentioned ADD/ADHD. she had me say how much each statement on this test applied to my life and legitimately every single thing on there was something I thought was just a bad quality of mine.
