ROZEREM  (RAMELTEON):  This medication is used to treat sleeplessness (insomnia). It helps you fall asleep faster so you can get a full night's rest. Sleep is important for your ability to function, think clearly, and remain alert. Lack of sleep can cause problems such as depression, heart disease and accidents. Getting enough sleep allows your mind and body to repair itself and increases your energy throughout the day. Ramelteon works like a natural substance called melatonin that is produced by your body. It helps regulate your sleep-wake cycle (circadian rhythm).   FDA Approval Date: 2005-07-22 (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

1  Insomnia Groggy feeling in the morning. Slight headache I took the medicine for two nights. Both nights I feel asleep but only for two-three hours. Could not fall back asleep. Was very restless all night and anxious (probably because I was worries about being able to work the next day). When I got out of bed in the morning it took me a bit to walk without feeling wobbly. I also felt groggy and kind of out of it for the first hour I was awake. Tried coffee to snap me out of it but no luck. I don't think I will take this medicine again. F 57 2 days

1  Waking during the night Racing thoughts and wakefulness I've woken up hours after taking Rozerem two nights in a row now. I was curious if the first night was a fluke, but it's the same thing now the 2nd time. It's worse than if I didn't take anything. I'm looking forward to connecting with my doctor about how ineffective this prescription is and how it is causing new problems. F 35 2 days

1  Insomnia This stuff is worthless. It's 12:30 am and I'm still trying to fall asleep but instead I'm on my phone looking up reviews. My new doctor decided not to give me Ambien any longer, he said it's addictive, so he wants me to try this. Well, I can see why this is not addictive because it doesn't work. Who's going to keep taking it! F 62 3 days

1  Insomnia issues Sleep paralysis. My mind was still going while my body was shut down. I took it at 1 am and was up until 6am which is when I took my regular Advil pm & neurontin and finally fell asleep after taking my regular sleep meds. My boyfriend started taking it for bad nightmares but he doesn’t have insomnia because he falls asleep fast and he is having a good experience with it. He doesn’t have his nightmares and wakes up fully rested and feeling great. He’s 50 yrs. F 49 1 days

1  Trouble falling and staying asleep It didn't help me fall asleep at all. When I finally slept, I had vivid dreams, then woke with nausea, severe headache, and grogginess the first day. Every night after that, it didn't work at all and left me with a nauseating headache the next day. Despite sleepwalking, sleep eating, and amnesia from Ambien, at least I fall asleep and don't feel terribly ill upon waking. Rozerem is the worst sleeping medicine I've ever tried, and it is about $11 a pill! F 47 5 days

1  Terrible Insomnia Horrific nightmares & hallucinations after only taking a few days, continued for 1 week without positive results of any kind. Much worse than the negative side effects of Ambien's induced amnesia. Would not recommend whatsoever. F 50 1 weeks

1  To help me sleep Horrible sleeplessness because I started itching and itching and itching. It was like being hypnotized but my mind would not shut off. I did eventually fall asleep but would wake up every 15 -30 minutes. Horrible experience. now it's 1:30 a.m. and I am wide awake! F 59 1 days

1  Insomnia Sleep paralysis. It felt like my body was asleep while my mind was fully conscious. So frustrating! And it prevented me from falling asleep. I can't remember what the dosage was. Why is this crap so expensive?! It was a worthless waste of big money! Months after the first try, I tried it a second time, just to make sure it wasn't just a fluke, but the second try was just as bad as the first. I only tried it because it's touted as non-addictive - well, of course you won't get addicted to something that DOES NOT WORK! F 42 2 times

1  Insomnia Nightmares, anxiety, severe headaches, nausea, flu-like symptoms Have tried several sleep medications with some side effects, but this is the worst. Doctor said to stay on it for at least 7 days to start working. Calling Dr. tomorrow, cannot take this another day. Thank God she gave me samples and I didn't have to pay for it. F 65 6 days

1  Insomnia Horrible. Did not have hallucinations or panic attacks but it did not work at all! Was afraid to take additional 8 mg since it appeared it would make me feel worse according to other reviews. Did not work last night (slept maybe 3-4 hours fitfully) from around 4 am and was wise awake at 7 am, no drowsiness the next day! No weird reactions, crap just did nothing! Ended up taking 18 mg of Silenor for 1st time (just got samples); 2 doses of Benadryl (more than 4 hours apart), Ibuprofen, 9 mg of Melatonin and 1 mg of Klonopin, and still no sleeop! Silenor sucks, too! Have also tried Trazedone, Restoril, Seroquel, other trycyclics, Lunesta, and Ambien. Beginning to think Benadryl and Melatonin work better! Am ready to try a barbituate-based sleep medicine if my Dr. will give me a few for a few nights of sleep! Only slept 2 out of the last 8 nights, constantly woke up but was at least able to get back to sleep those 2 nights. Usually cannot fall asleeo or wake up after 1 1/2 -2 hours and stay awake. I am on Medicaid, so at least I did not pay much for this worthless junk. No wonder they don't advertise for it anymore! F 42 1 days
