I will keep eating oatmeal as it was working and did bring my numbers down to 235 from 270. Don't know why the doctor did not just say ' keep eating oatmeal'. No side effects with oatmeal! Fatigue, muscle pain and weakness. My dr put me on Antara which helped my triglycerides but did nada for the lipids. 6 month followup showed elevated ldl and with this history, they put me on zetia for 30 days just to be sure it was the statin that I wasn't able to tolerate. My appt was about 35 days after I started the Zetia and the 30 day sample I was given ran out. I went back for followup this morning and reported that the same extreeeeeme fatigue and muscle aches occured. Within 2-3 days of stopping the zetia, I felt 100% better. NOT GOOD FOR ME!! Oh, as an aside, the Vytorin worked very well in achieving the cholesterol goals needed...operation worked..patient died!!!! Then, I couldn't get to the pharmacy for a few days to pick up my Zetia refill and realized the back pain was subsiding. Four days after taking my last Zetia, I was a new person - no hip or back pain. I am extremely grateful to be pain free; however, I've been left with a knee that will never be 100%, although the surgery was successful. | I presented with the hip, back and knee pain to six different physicians - four internists, one endocrinologist and one orthopedic surgeon. ZETIA (EZETIMIBE): Ezetimibe is used along with a low cholesterol/low fat diet and exercise to help lower cholesterol in the blood. Ezetimibe may be used alone or with other drugs (such as "statins" or fibrates). Ezetimibe works by reducing the amount of cholesterol your body absorbs from your diet.
